It's been weeks since Paul last saw John, he was mad, of course he was mad. Paul finally got John back after months of pain and what? John got bored so he decided to disappear?
How fucked is that?
Paul tried and tried again to summon John, it didn't work. He was beginning to get tired and was beginning to contemplate just.. stopping. He didn't want to, John was basically his soulmate he can't just give up now; especially since he already had John once before.
Paul, like many other nights, was laying in bed near tears. He was lonely, so lonely; George wasn't helping and neither was Ringo, when he was with them he just felt like something was.. missing. His life felt like a tragic mess after tragic mess, first his mother now his best friend.
Paul was near passing out when he heard something, a creak then a quiet giggle. Paul turned around and sat up in his bed, ready to scold Mike but nobody was there. His room was a bit small so there weren't many hiding spots.
His eyes landed on his closet and made his way towards it, Paul huffed, mad he was awoken from his near slumber and opened his closet preparing to see Mike crouching down.
It wasn't Mike.
It was John, sitting there with a smile. Paul couldn't believe his eyes, "J-John?" he whispered, John nodded then made grabby hands towards Paul. Paul went to help John up from the floor when suddenly John tugged Paul onto him giggling. Paul couldn't help but laugh as he looked into John's eyes, his dear friend, his beloved Johnny. John wrapped his arms around Pauls waist, "I'm sorry I left you," John mumbled, "I didn't want to, I was just under your bed then the next second I was just.. gone" John pulled away from Paul.
Paul could feel John staring at him, he couldn't find it in him to meet his gaze. Paul chewed his bottom lip, "Where did you go?" he squeezed John's hand, "I don't.. I don't know, I was just in some deep dark abyss and it was so cold Paul," John's voice cracked. Paul hugged him, "Let's get off of the floor John, let's go sit on my bed for a bit" Paul said, moving off of John.
After a bit of a struggle the boys managed to get to Paul's bed, neither of them spoke. John was thinking, about what? Well.. everything, from his death to leaving Paul alone that one night. He couldn't take the sudden feeling of guilt that washed over his body, so he did the most natural thing his body could come up with. John cried, he didn't care that Paul was there, he didn't care about anything really.
Paul had concern written all over his face and in an attempt to calm John down, he hugged him and he hugged him tight, much like that previous night they had spent together. John just cried harder, shaking from the force of his sobs. He barely managed to let out an apology in the midst of all the crying, Paul just shushed him. After a few minutes John had calmed down, still muttering apologies to Paul, and all Paul did was tell him he doesn't have to worry.
John believed him. Paul unwrapped his arms from around John and mumbled, "Look at me Johnny," John hesitated to look up at Paul, he didn't want to see disappointment in the younger boys eyes. Paul touched John's cheek, this time he didn't pull away, John looked up. Paul was staring at John and John was staring right back, John felt himself get lost in Paul's kaleidoscopic eyes. John sniffled, "I'm sorry Paulie, I didn't want to leave you," John's voice cracked. Paul gave John a comforting smile and inched closer to John's face, in return John moved even closer.. and closer.. their noses almost touching, if John just leaned in a little bit more he could-
Paul pulled away.
He wouldn't meet John's eyes, John was glad about that. There were a few moments of silence, awkward silence at that, neither boy knowing what to say, especially since they were so close to kissing. Paul felt a small ounce of regret, maybe he shouldn't have moved away? No, he had to, it was for the best. John decided to break the silence, Paul flinched when he heard his voice, "I want to go out," John said, a hint of anxiety in his voice.
Paul couldn't believe what he was hearing, John outside? What is he thinking? Paul began to shake his head in disagreement and was about to protest to what John said when he was suddenly cut off, "Listen, I know what you're thinking" John turned his body towards Paul, "But I just need to go outside Paul, I need to feel the sun and see everything again Paul, just please let me go out," John begged, getting ready to go on his knees and cry just so he can convince Paul to let him out.
Paul licked his lips, "Why can't you just go out yourself John?" Paul questioned, really he was just trying to find a reason to not go out with John, "I need the person that summoned me to be with me, or else I'll go back to that dark place like last time," John was getting desperate and annoyed, he just wanted to go out! What was the big deal? Paul still wasn't convinced, didn't John realize how badly this could go? John clicked his tongue, "Let's test it with your Dad, if Jim doesn't see me then you can let me go out," John said, attempting to compromise with Paul.
Paul wasn't going to agree to that, what if there was a chance Jim could see John? I mean Paul could see him, so why wouldn't his Dad be able to? Paul was about to tell John what he thought about that silly plan of his but he suddenly got interrupted, Mike walked into Paul's room.
He didn't say anything about John sitting on Paul's bed.
