Lena's steps echoed throughout the hallway. Her hands were clenched tight with rage. Coran had put her in charge of watching a spoiled brat of a princess. The armor she wore banged against her body as she had a smaller figure than most of the men in the coalitions military. Her broad shoulders fit the bill but her body slimmed as it went down to her surprisingly long legs, a result of her Galra lineage.
Lena pushed her chocolate hair which had been unevenly cut in her last battle causing half of her hair to be longer than the other side. She liked how it looked so she left it be. A door opened before her to show a shorter girl with a curvy structure with curly black hair to match. Her caramel skin holding the glow of the morning sun as she turn to smile at Lena happily. "You must be Lena!" She cheered holing out her soft hand out for Lena to shake. Lena reluctantly shook it with her rough and tough hand which had seen many battles. These two were as different as night and day.
The girl's smile grew as she introduced herself. "I am princess Magnolia. But since we're going to be friends you can call me Maggie." Lena narrowed her eyes as if this girl had insulted her. "We aren't friend's honey. I'll stick to calling you princess."
Maggie rolled her eyes and brushed this off she was determined to make this girl her friend. "Okay then...." She thought for a moment. "Well since you're new here I'll show you around the castle." Maggie took Lena by the wrist and tugged on her arm making Lena reluctantly followed. Lena already knew her way around but humored the princess.
They soon became lost as every hall looked exactly the same. They came upon very large doors which seem peculiar that neither of them recognized it. Maggie went to open it as a firm hand landed on her shoulder. A boy with a very broad structure and well built looked down at the princess. "I'm sorry princess I cannot allow you to go in there." His magenta eyes gazing down at her with a soft gaze.
Maggie gave a sigh of defeat. "Alright fine. As she turned to go she bolted inside before the boy could stop her. As her royal guard Lena followed and chuckled slightly. Who knew the princess had guts. The boy raced in behind as they stood at the feet of two huge mechanical beasts that resembled lions as the doors closed behind.
They stood there for a good minute before they heard footsteps come their way and the hiss of the doors opening again. Not wanting to get into trouble Lena pulled the two towards the yellow one and hid at the foot.
Coran walked in along with a tall green Chimera with freckles in the shape of leaves. He pushed up his classes as he turned to Coran. "sir are you sure I may use the lions for my research?" he asked as the redheaded Alet an nodded. "Yes, there is no more need for the lions. As their paladins are long gone by now."
A loud rumbled boomed throughout the castle as the walls shook in fear. A guard shuffled in dark smoke emanating from his eyes as he raised his long sword only for it to tumble down onto Coran. The slim Chimera pushed him out of the way. "What the quiznak is happening?!?" Coran called out as the seemingly possessed guard went to attack again cutting into Coran's leg.
Maggie had tears streaming down her face as she wanted to help him but was too scared to move. But in a flash Lena pulled out her sword from its scabbard on her waist jumping over the large mechanical paw to reach the guard blocking his attack with her sword.
Maggie had never seen such courage. She didn't understand how Lena could rush out like that and put her own life at risk without hesitation. Inspired the princess as well jumped over the paw of the yellow lion with the boy following her. Lena then called out. "Something's wrong with him. Helt get the princess out of here." The boy nodded grabbing the princess by the shoulders. "you have to go." He told her as he tugged on her. But Maggie stayed put. She wanted to protect her uncle Coran. "Not until I know what's going on!"
The walls shook once again as the castle started to crumble to the ground. They were under attack. More and more troops with the same dark smoke piled into the room as a Gala boy tumbled in running from these things. Taking one of the guns he shot into the pile of the shoulders who were clearly possessed. Even when they were shot they were unaffected by the shots which would've killed them."
The princess could handle no more of this as she jumped in-between the soldiers and those unaffected to stop them. They would listen to their princess right? She wasn't in any real danger right? She closed her eyes tight as a roar erupted from the yellow lion's jaws as it slid in to protect the princess from harm shoving the possessed soldiers out of the room. The chimera running towards the doors panel and locking them out.
Coran struggled to stand as the Chimera helped him up. "The yello9w lion responded to you princess?" he gawked in disbelief. "That means.... Something's wrong with those soldiers." He muttered. The Chimera pushed his glasses into place. "I believe that I may be able to explain. As you know I have been researching the origin of realities. As the paladins of old explained it to be pure light. So I came up with a well educated guess that there is a exact opposite and equal force of darkness. I called this the Blight."
Lena glared at the Chimera. "So? Who cares?!? Our own men just attacked us!" The Chimera cleared their throat as they continued. "I belie that the sample I created may have infected the guards causing them to be controlled by the pure evil inside." The walls rumbled and quaked in fear once3s again. "I think this may have awakened the lions enough for them to choose new paladins. As it is clear to me the yellow lion has chosen the princess."
