Evangeline Nazaret Cruz was the daughter of the rising millionaires Hael and Ariela Cruz. Being the youngest of her siblings and the only daughter, the darling girl was protected over all costs.

She was a gentle soul who cared not for physical possessions in life and would extend a hand to anyone life had thrown to the ground. She inherited her father's humility and shared everything she could with those around her even if it was a listening ear, a trait her mother possessed.

That was until she turned 15 and learned of her parents fortune. All her life she had grown up humbly, thinking her parents were simple small business owners which allowed them to live comfortably. There was no sign of them being filthy rich until after her quinceañera when the truth was revealed to her.

Being lucky enough to grow up in a loving home, free of generational traumas, Evangeline could only sympathize with others who weren't as lucky. She believed herself to be apart of the select few whom had a close connection to her parents and brothers; so close that they had no secrets between each other.

Oh how wrong she was.

Even if Evangeline had showed most of her father's kind traits, as any child she was bound to inherit some of her mother's traits. Unaware to everyone she inherited her mother's impatient and unpassive temper, all that she needed were the proper circumstances to ignite it.

The proper circumstances came after the breathtaking day of her quinceañera when she discovered the truth. She was hurt beyond words by the fact her parents persistently hid their wealth. It hurt even more when she found out all of her brothers knew since the age of 14.

She was enraged beyond words taking everyone by surprise like a burglar at night. Everyone but her suspecting mother who was quick to take action in easing her only daughter.

The girl was blinded though and didn't hear her family's explanations. For once her heart was contaminated by resent which danced on the line of hate. Such feelings almost always seem to produce teenage rebellion despite how happy childhood was.

Finally it reached a point that broke Evangeline, bringing her back to her old self for a moment. Ariela knew the moment wouldn't last so she seized the opportunity to soothe her daughter into the only solution left.

"Oh my dear y dulce niña," her mother cooed soothingly, "Don't waste any more tears. Anger is a natural, humane thing." Her voice was like a lullaby as she caressed the girl's long wavy dark black hair.

Evangeline could barely bring herself to respond through her tears. "It was horrible, I... I had this dream then I had this very bad gut feeling and I don't know what happened next." The poor girl wept bitterly into her mother's chest at the mere thought. "I don't want to go back, mamá, please."

Ariela tilted her head, her emerald eyes meeting chocolate ones. She couldn't bear to see her beloved daughter cry so bitterly. It was evident in her eyes which sparkled with a certain pain she only ever began to feel after seeing her eldest child hurt for the first time.

Hael understood the look in her eyes perfectly as he felt it too. He grabbed his wife's hand and kissed it before kissing his daughter's head. "Whatever you decide is best, mi vida, I will agree as long as our corazón is alright with it."

It was at that moment the idea of Nevermore Academy was introduced. Both Hael and Ariela had attended the school which is where they encountered each other. It served them as a way to escape the world they knew and grow independently. It was life changing.

Evangeline, racked with guilt at the time, agreed to attend the boarding school almost immediately. Sure she'd miss her family but she felt the urge to experience the same life changing experience as her parents. In the extremity her anger reached she had lost her spiritual connection, something that terrified her. She felt attending Nevermore was what she needed to grow in new ways that would help her with the new things she learned about herself.

So it was decided Evangeline Cruz would attend Nevermore Academy.
