"Amanda Daily", i looked up to look at the old receptionist with bleach blonde hair at the front desk. "Dr. Smith is ready to see you now". It takes me a while to register what she had said, but after a minute or two, i get up and walk towards the large wooden door. As i turn the door handle, I'm greeted by a familiar face, which makes me immediately comfortable. Dr Smith has been there through my hardest times. He had been there when my parents split, when my dog died, when i failed my maths exam and even when i had my period in a swimming pool. He was always there to talk to.

As per usual, he was sitting there in his white leather chair, looking sophisticated. He was quite a short man, with pale skin, a large nose and a white moustache that covered half of his face. "Amanda, it's great to see you again, i really do look forward to our monthly visits". There was a point in my life where i was seeing Dr smith on a daily basis, every week. It bothers me now that i only get to see him once or twice a month. "Trust me Doc, i look forward to it more". I said while slumping myself into a chair and putting my feet on the table. I felt so at home here. The session goes as per usual, i give him an update on whats been happening in my life, and how iv been feeling. Everything is normal until he says he needs to tell me something important. "As you know Amanda, I'm not the youngest man in the wor-". I cut him off mid sentence, and in a sarcastic tone say "doc you don't look a day over 25". He doesn't look amused but continues anyway. "Soon ill be old and grey, and ill have to retire, and by soon, i mean a few weeks. Now i don't want you to freak out, but iv arranged for a new doctor to ta-." I cut him off again. "WHAT?" What was he thinking!? This was the only place in the world where i could relax and he was the only person i could talk to with so much conformability.
"Well thats the end of our hour together Amanda, you better head off, wouldn't want to miss the bus!" I am not pleased at all. He's practically pushing me out of the door when he says "iv arranged a meeting for you and Doctor Bartle on friday, ill get the details emailed to you before then". With that, the door is slammed shut.
