"Thank you so much, Maddie." I said when I got into her car.

"Don't think to much of it. It is my duty to you." Maddie said and smiled at me.

I turned to Maddie with a tear rolling down my face, "I don't know what to think. He was with that piece of shit Natalie. What do I do? Should I take a break and then return? Is this in our agreement?" I had started panicking.

Maddie tried to reassure me, "Don't worry about it know, Katie. It is 11:30 PM on a Thursday. Let the dust settle, let your mind have some time to process. What ever comes to your gut is the right answer. It can't be my job to tell you what to do and judge your weird agreement."

I looked back at her with a smile and a feeling of relief. I had to pause and think.

"I should probably warn you.." Maddie started explaining, "Try to stay out of the way of the kids. They have started to go through their fighting with each other stages and might not be so fond of you staying over."

With a snotty tone I say, "Well that's just lovely!"

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

My alarm clock rang at 7:30 AM. The house was in bustling chaos. Fighting, yelling and confusion; school was approaching. I had no clue how I had fallen asleep last night. My mind in such a blur and my pure exhaustion might had just made me forget. The worried filled thoughts started to come back to me. I was not well rested. How would I survive a day at work? I got out of bed and opened the door to see what was for breakfast.

"Maddie!" I called as a child ran in front of me for unknown reasons. "Maddie?"

"I'm coming, Katie!" She yelled while dealing with her morning chaos. She rounded the corner and was walking up to me with a fake smile when another child of hers ran up to her and tugged on her arm, "Mommy, Evan hit me!" Maddie responded, "Not now, sweetie. Mommy has to go help Kaitlyn."

I ask Maddie in a concerned voice, "Is every morning like this?"

"Well, most of the time yes. You should have seen the morning we were in such a hurry I forgot to put the lid on the blender." She laughed.

I giggled at her joke and asked, "Maddie.. Is there any breakfast left over?"

"Katie!" she laughed, "You think I hadn't made enough to feed my guest? You have a plate of pancakes sitting in the nook just the way you like them. I have to get these kids to school and start my day at work. Bye, Katie!"

I thanked her, "You are a life saver! Bye! Enjoy your day."

I walked to the nook yawning. The pancakes look amazing!  I sat down eager to eat the sugary breakfast when I remembered that I would have to take Public Transit to work if I went. The last thing I was wanting to do was go to work. If anything I needed time to process what had happened the night before. Maybe while I was at it I could do some house chores for Maddie.
