Moonstar's Path

Chapter Two

Moonkit padded along with Spottedfeather. Her eyes were gleaming with triumph as she brought back a trout. Moonkit was not allowed to get out of camp, but they went to the creek were Starkit fell in. So he brought back one minnow.

He looked at Spottedfeather. Is this my chance? She smiled at him. Yes. "Umm... Spottedfeather?" He mewed. "Yes, Moonkit?" "If Starkit were here, she would've caught three!" He purred. Worry gleamed in her eyes and she looked forward. "If she had two good eyes..." Is she gonna leave only cause she has one good eye? He gave out a small hiss. "She has Riverclan blood!" She shook her head. "No, I wasn't fully raised here... So it would make sense if Starkit doesn't have Riverclan blood." Moonkit looked down. "Please... I want her to be with me..."

She sighed. "I'll see about it..."

Yes! Moonkit gave a small jumped and ran into the medicine cat den.

Moonkit saw Sunkit and Starkit talking to each other.

Envy hit him as he saw her smile with Sunkit. Wasn't I the only one who made her smile? He shook himself. Who am I talking to? It's so obvious that Starkit has a crush on Sunkit! He cringed. Moony for a cat!

Sunkit looked at him. "Moonkit! Did you know that Starkit has a blind eye?" He bared his teeth into a snarl. "I did... Thanks..." He put down his kill in front of Starkit's paws. "Thank you! Sunkit, come share with me!" Sunkit padded next to her and they both shared the meal.

Lucky furball! Moonkit gave out a soft hiss of envy.

A gray cat appeared in the medicine den. Stonepaw... The medicine cat apprentice. What's he doing here? His purple eyes blazed with shock. "Goldenwing! Goldenwing!" The yellow she-cat ran to him. "What?" "It's Winterleaf! Her kits are coming!" "That's too soon!" She growled. "I know! But they're coming!" "Okay! Go! I'll be behind you!" Stonepaw nodded and ran to the nursery. Goldenwing picked up a prickly leaf and ran after Stonepaw. Moonkit looked at Starkit and Sunkit. Their eyes were round with interest. "We should go!" She decided. Sunkit shook his head. "No... We should-" "Come on then!" Moonkit announced and ran outside.

He looked behind him and saw Starkit and Sunkit behind him.

"Oof!" He mewed as he hit himself with something. He looked. Someone.

Stonepaw glared at him. "Watch where you're going!" "Sorry..." He grumbled.

He squeezed inside the nursery.

Winterleaf, the white she-cat, was laying down. Her groans became into huffs.

"I'm gonna have to get a stick." Stonepaw trotted outside, heading towards a tiny pile of sticks. He picked one up and padded into the nursery. "Here..." He mewed at the She-cat as he put down the stick to her paws. Winterleaf took the stick and bit on it. Goldenwing looked at Stonepaw. "Good job." Goldenwing padded towards the panting queen. "You're doing a great job Winterleaf, keep it up. Stonepaw, get the kits out of here," Stonepaw nodded and looked at them."Come on, out," Stonepaw said as he pushed them outside of the nursery.

"But I wanna see!" Starkit yowled. Moonkit thought fast. "But Spottedfeather wants us in there with her!"If his sister was to go, he wanted her to have an adventure through camp before she goes. Stonepaw looked at him. "Fine." Moonkit rushed in with Starkit on his tail. "Spottedfeather only wanted her kits." Moonkit looked behind and saw Sunkit nervously looking at the floor. "B-but I want to see..." "Poor Sunkit..." Starkit murmured. "Come on..." Moonkit felt bad, but there was nothing he can do.

Starkit snuggled next to Spottedfeather. "Is it okay if we see?" Spottedfeather looked startled for a moment, but said nothing and nodded. Moonkit brushed his muzzle to his mother's soft pelt.
