Mia P.O.V.
My room was filled with the sound of birds chirping and the sun was shining bright as ever. I enjoyed waking up in the morning to this. I sat up from my bed and stretched my arms. My room smelled of pumpkin spice. I had been spraying my room with a freshener of that smell. I loved how the smell would last. My morning seemed perfect when it played out like this. I wonder what I should do today. I got up from my bed. I didn’t bother making it. I just didn’t see the point if I were going to just mess it up again at night. Not like I would have anyone in my room anyways. I walked toward my drawers and pulled out a white plain hoodie and white jeans. I walked out to the hall and headed towards the bathroom. The door was locked. I knocked. No answer. Three seconds later a man opens it. “Ah, who have we here?”
“Nobody. No need to know my name, you won’t be around long anyways.”
“No need to be a little bitch kid.” My fists clenched at that. I was only stating the truth. I am tired of all these assholes.
“I’m sorry , my daughter is such a brat, there’s a reason I wish I aborted you know.” My so called mother was standing down the hall with a cigarette in her mouth. “Stop being spoiled and tell him your name!” She wasn’t even offended at him calling her only child a little bitch. It was much more ignorant than my attitude.
“Sorry, but no! Fuck this! I don’t need to tell him my name!” I walked into the bathroom and threw my clean clothes on the floor.
“You little bitch!” My mom snickered. “What did you say young lady?!”
“Oh, I see his kind words rubbed off on you! You heard me well, it’s not like he cares for my name anyways!” With that I close the bathroom door. I was about to get into the shower when I spotted a condom on the tub. Ew. Gross! I grab some toilet paper and throw it away. I took a quick shower and got dressed. It was noisy. I heard stuff being thrown around downstairs. I run down the steps to find my mother tossing stuff around. Glass was broken and so was a table.
“Are you proud of yourself? He left because things were awkward!” She grabbed at her hair, yanking it. “Because of you! Leave out of my fucking sight!” She was trembling and staring at me coldly. A pan went flying in the air and I ducked just in time. “I said leave now devil’s child!”
“If he was even worthy he wouldn’t have slept with you so fast and he wouldn’t have left for something so little!” I yell and leave the house. I wasn’t going to cry. I couldn’t cry. I think I have gotten numb. Sometimes no matter how bad I wanted to cry or how hard I tried, I just couldn’t. I guess I was tired of all this. So used to it that I just didn’t bother. I walked to an ATM machine. I have a bank account. I kept my money in it. I was recently fired from my job thanks to my mom. I withdrew $500. I had $170 left in the bank. The rest of the money I would make from work went towards rent. Explaining why I only had $770. Plus of course at times I bought myself things. I shoved my money in my hood pocket and left one of my hands over it just in case. As soon as I turned around I bumped into someone.
“Mia.” I eyed the beauty in front of me.
“You!” I say in shock.
“I thought I had told you my name?”
“Oh, sorry! Andy is your name. Sorry Andy, just didn’t expect to see you again. I guess, well it’s kind of weird so I was shocked.” I realized people waiting to use the ATM were getting angry. I stepped aside and he did too. He’s so tall. “You’re not going to use the ATM?”
“No, no need to. I just thought I recognized you.” He inhaled deeply. Did I stink? No, I took a shower this morning, I’m sure I don’t. “Where are you going on this fine October morning?” Just when I was about to answer he spoke again. “Oh Lucy, you stink!” He pinched his nose and my face turned red. “No, not you dear, this thing-person behind me!” He grabbed my arm and dragged us away. I look back to see the guy at the ATM machine sniff himself. I felt a hot stinging pain on my arm.
“Ow.” I whispered.
“Sorry, sometimes I forget the difference.”
“What difference?”
“I don’t know.” I blink. Has he gone mad?

I really should start thinking before I talk. I mentally slap myself. It smells so good. As for the creature that was behind me a moment ago, it reeked so bad I wanted to end its life. “Would you like to come to my place? I could make you some tea or coffee.” It seemed hesitant to respond. It scratched the back of its head.
“Sure, why not.” It finally replied. I noticed it wasn’t too sure about it. Whatever. It agreed and I was glad. Even more glad to get off these streets. More and more filth were beginning to come out. It was all part of my plan to bring it back to my place. The creature and I eventually arrived. Our place was dark fashioned. I wonder if it was scared. “Wow, your place is beautiful.” Who was it kidding?
“It doesn’t scare you?”
“No well yes. A little. It’s beautiful. You can feel that there’s been a lot of history here. It’s ancient. But that’s the scary part. If I lived here, I’d be scared to sleep because I’m sure it’s haunted.” It had no idea just how haunted it is. It is both correct and incorrect. It was haunted, not by ghosts but by us. I hear a throat clear.
“Did you bring back breakfast?” Pamela said from the stairs. From the corner of my eye I could see it tuck its brown hair behind its ear and look down.
“No Pam. I didn’t, but this is my friend Mia. My friend. I’m not sharing.” I almost choked at calling it my friend, but I had to get the point across somehow.
“Hi Pam, nice to meet you.” Pamela walked down the steps seductively.
“Call me Pamela. Pam is ugly. It’s my pleasure Mia. My pleasure!” She started walking close to Mia. I got close to it too. Mia was mine. I wasn’t sharing. “Wow! You smell great!”
“Huh?” Mia said. I spotted her looking at Pam weirdly.
“Your perfume, I like it.”
“I don’t have any on.”
“Oh.” Great job Pamela. "It must be whatever you wash your clothes with then. I have keen sense of smell.” I eyed Pamela as she walked pass the creature. “It’s really greedy of you not to share Andrew. I need friends too.” She winked. “Well I’m off for breakfast! Toodles!” She left the house. I examined Mia whom was already looking at me. I noticed she was wearing all white except for her biker boots. No wonder why a lot of filth were looking at us earlier. I have all black on. We looked like a black and white TV screen together.
“Shall I lead you to my room?” I smiled. It nods its head and we head up to my room. I open the black door. “Ladies first.” I had left the window open. Air blew in. I just couldn’t wait. I was breathing in deeply. I turn my head to the left softly, my fangs revealing itself, ready to taste. I tried to hurry but she turned around. It was too late. I was exposed. No choice now.
