Auden Harlow Cambridge ties her sapphire blue ribbon around her apron around her thin waist. It's her first day of becoming a barista at tour dé cafe, a coffee shop she's been going to quite often because her sister believes it's the best thing since sliced bread. She does a deep breath and walks by the glistening counters. She walks to a stone grey register and takes her first ever order. Little does she know her first order will be the best order she's done. It's crazy how life can create true love.I walk to the marble counters, the hanging bulb lights shining on my face. It's my first day working at a job. You'd never think my 14 year old sister Rayne would ever lay her hands on a 'grimey' job application. She's a prim and proper princess-or so what others think. She's about to turn 15 and I'm about to turn 17 and we are opposites. She's a girl who loves to play around with guys, I see her sucking a face every other week with a new dude I've never met, some reeking of alcohol. She's also the type of girl to waste her night going to multiple high school parties and drinking her way through the night. She's also my moms favorite and she's got my mom wrapped around her manicured little finger. I've never had a boyfriend nor a hickey but Rayne has. Hickies are plastered down her neck and she uses the excuse of a curling iron.
I have to get a job to be able to supply myself for college and an adult life. Rayne and my mom blow their money on useless shopping trips. Rayne bought stilettos that have a clear heal filled with glitter. $350 later and she doesn't buy them. My mom always uses the excuse of 'We have a lot of bills to pay Auden, why not wait later to ask for something?' Excuse whenever I ask for something. That's exactly why I don't have a very tight bond with both of them.
Don't ask about my father either, he's a businessman- dead business man. My mom inherited some of his cash but we aren't crazy rich, we live in a normal house. My dad died because he messed with the wrong gang-bangers. My family isn't surprising. It seems like I'm the only one that cares about a stable life.
A tall dark haired man who looked around to he my age stepped into the coffee shop. He was actually pretty handsome and it wasn't uncommon for a teen to come here considering it could be the hotspot even if it's summer and the sun is blazing down on me with its scorching rays. He was pretty handsome and had a tattoo on his knuckles but I could read the words. He was looking down at his phone and then closed it angrily. He looks up at me with his pretty green eyes. I stepped back a step and he put his arm out.
"Oh no, I am so sorry for scaring you, I'm ready to order." He days and he looks at me for a second and I do a faint smile.
"What would you like to order?" I say sweetly while I can tell something is obviously bothering him.
He does a chuckle- probably knowing that I can tell he's a little apprehensive. "Yeah, sorry if I'm holding up the line." He pauses and glances at the menu before making slight eye contact with me. "I'd like to order a cappuccino please." I smile while he opens his wallet and hands me the money while I put it in the cash register. "What's your name?" I pause. "I mean, for the coffee." He does a satisfied smile and says "Jasper, my name is Jasper. What about your name?" I reply with, "My name is Auden." I say shyly. "That's a cute name." He says and before I can say thank you he walks away.
Jasper, Jasper, Jasper. I have to repeat that three times unless I want to know his name, I mean he's pretty cute but I'm not sure I'd have a chance with him. He's seems a bit different than a guy I'd look for. He seems kind but you never know. You know what? Snap out of it.
