Chapter 10: Reunion

[Raena POV]

After initial introductions (including all three of us getting a weird flashback when we touched our supposed 'partner'), we were steered off to different places.

My partner, Jeon Jungkook, was a prince. He, I guessed, was around 18 or 19. Like me, he was born into this family, and is a half Devil and half a Vamp. But unlike me, he was a Devil first, so, I had a lot of trouble getting used to his halo. He told me that his eyes were supposed to be white, but his Genes overrode that one which is why he has red eyes.

I was so attracted to him, that I couldn't focus on his words as he toured me around the castle. I tried to focus on the specifics like how some parts of the castle were pure Obsidian and Gold, but I always got distracted by his looks. At a point in time, he paused as he sensed my gaze on him.

"Princess, I wouldn't be able to carry out my duties if you continue staring at me like that..", he said. I blushed at him calling me princess and he smiled at me. That is when I noticed that his canines went a little longer than his level of teeth.

"Why.. do you have fangs? I thought you were a Dom-Devil?", I asked him.

"As I told you, some of my genes were overridden. As for you, you will have them too! Just wait for the Initiation. Maybe tomorrow or day after..", he added, scratching his chin slightly.

"Did you know something Kookie-",  I paused at the nickname because I really didn't know where that cane from. I was trying to be as formal as possible.

I saw Jungkook's eyes light up at the nickname and he threw his Royal demeanour out of the window when he started speaking at full speed and started waving his hands around to illustrate what he was saying.

"Ray!!! Do you finally remember me?? I know it would take some time but yeah!! We can go to the music room together if you want.. I-"

"No."

"-will take.. wait what??", he lowered his hands to his sides and his face dropped.

"Koo- I mean Jungkook.. I am still not used to this place.. If I was close to you, my memories still haven't returned yet. And I am sorry.. I really want to remember stuff you know.. us..", I said, trying to make him feel better.

He lowered his head in what I thought was disappointment. As I extended my hand forward to console and tell him it's my fault, he suddenly jerked his head up and said, "I almost forgot, there is one place that might bring back your memories, but I won't show you just yet."

I smiled at that, knowing and confident that he won't give up until I regain my memories back.

"Let's go, I want to show you all places in the castle!!", he said, giving me a wide smile and grabbing my hands. I flinched at that a bit, before relaxing and going onward.

Now that I had etched his facial features in my mind and grew more comfortable in his company, I could finally focus on the interiors of the castle. It was jet black. Galleries, walls, doors, you name it. All door frames were pure gold and designs on the walls here and there too. There were huge windows in the hall through which sunlight shone through, giving the galleries a much more friendlier look, otherwise it would've looked like a dungeon I guess.

Jungkook suddenly left my side and broke into a run, and turned a right, asking me to follow. We ran for about five minutes, crisscrossing and taking turns before he made me stop before a door, which was larger than the rest.

I was still panting but I looked at Jungkook questioningly. He just smirked and pushed the doors, introducing me to a world I would've probably wanted to die in.

It was pitch black where he brought me. He shut the door close behind him and shushed me when I started feeling around for him, or anything in general to hold on to because I couldn't even see my own hands. I heard him flick a switch and I heard a door hiss open. 

The place where we were standing filled with a dim light and Jungkook gestured me to look forward.

Books. Just. Books. Loads and loads of books. I just stood there with my jaw hanging open and Jungkook shut it close for me. I gulped and took a step forward.

The library was not how you are picturing it to be. Walls and walls of books? Towering to the ceiling? Pfft naaah. Where Jungkook brought me, was a balcony, overlooking rows and rows of books in rows extending from where we were standing. There were fluorescent blue lights in each shelf, illuminating the titles. The rows were labelled alphabetically. Which means all the books were in alphabetical order too.

"The only reason why it is so dark in here, is to protect the old books. The new books are kept in an entirely different place. You used to like history and literature. That's why I brought you here.", Jungkook said without looking at me. He pressed a switch in front of me, and a virtual keyboard popped out. I knew what to do and entered, 'Inferno', by Dante Alighieri, one of my favorite poems. The keyboard loaded for sometime, before disappearing. Jungkook beckoned me towards a box, which opened just as I got there, and there lay a folder, 'I'.

"Whoa this is so cool..", I exclaimed.

"I know right. I also know you don't wanna read it now so how about we head back out?", He said, not really as a question but as a fact, and pressed the return button.

We got out of the library and he took me to the garden. But before I could actually take in the beauty of it, something or rather someone caught my eye and before Jungkook can stop me, I was already running towards him.

 "Kai!!"
