CHAPTER 5 - Smile

"Hey kid what's that thing?"
Black asked, pointing at the sky.

"Hn? That's a cloud?"

"I know idiot, I'm asking what's above that cloud"

"Oh, you mean the sun?"

"I know that too stupid, that thing there"

Following Black's pointed finger I saw a silhouette.

"Don't know"

"You live here and don't know that?"

"Well, I'm sorry for not knowing what's a flying thing is called. I'm a kid remember?"

"Never mind"

Black and I, are in the forest.
We are gathering some herbs and vegetables for breakfast since Grandpa said
'Going to a town is a pain! We can gather ingredients in the forest for free!'

And that's why.

I saw a mushroom growing at a nearby tree and plucked it.

Its color is brown, is this edible?
Well, I'll pick it anyway.

This duty is much harder than hunting a wild boar.

Since catching a wild boar is easy if you got its trail and make some traps.

But gathering ingredients are a pain.
You need to search thoroughly, and it's so tiring.

Said the one who bumps me while caressing her head.

"Hey you got to take responsibility and catch tha- ah Kita!" she shouted happily.

Who is she? Blonde hair green eyes...

"Ah, the girl from before!"

"How rude! I got a name! Lucy, Lu-cy~"

She said while punching me lightly.

"Sorry, okay, Lucy right? What are you doing here?"

"Hmmpf, none of your business"

"I-i see then I'm going to continue what I'm doing," I said and bid her farewell

"H-hey wait! Stop!"

Before I can leave she stopped me by tugging the sleeve of my shirt.

"What is it?" I ask her.

"Y-you see, I'm alone wandering here ahm..." she said while fidgeting her tiny fingers.

"So, can I, ahm, ask you to join me?"
She asked while staring at me.

I want to join her I thought

"I can't, I'm in the middle of gathering ingredients for breakfast"

Hearing my words, Lucy made a sad face and let go of my sleeve.
