"No" Mae said as she closes her locker. It's been maybe two days since it was brought to Mae's attention that the duffer brothers were hosting auditions. I'm not even going to lie Mae was high key considering it, but it then again would never happen so she closes the idea before she gets to excited.
"Why not?" The two girls asked as kids rummaged the halls going to their next class. It was passing period between 5th and 6th, meaning Mae now has to make her way to math.
"Because, what if I'm not good enough? I don't want to get my hopes up just for them to turn me down." Mae confesses. She loves acting but every time she has to audition she gets nervous and shuts down. Good thing that auditions for Stranger Things is a video because Mae probably wouldn't be able to look the two in the eyes while acting.
"Maeve, you're one of the best actors I know-" Bri started. That was until Mae interrupted her,
"I'm the only actor you know." Mae has this sort of funny attitude with her words. Only her friends can hear it because she's not a generally mean person. Sabrina rolls her eyes for the millionth time today and continues.
"I think what she's trying to say, you won't get turned down. And if you do, well at least you tried. It's okay to be nervous but you can't give up on your dreams just because of nerves." Ellie replies in a such sincere tone of voice it almost made Maeve change her mind. It definitely got her thinking though.
The three girls split up as they all went to their last class of the day. For Maeve it was math with Mrs.Cranks. Her real name is Conners but since it's the last period of the day, she's so cranky and ready to go home that it kind of just stuck.
Maeve took her seat next to Aster as class started. He may be a senior but he's not the best at math.
"Hey, Maevy Mae." Aster smiles. He knows she hates being called maevy. It's what her dad used to call her but of course she was never going to admit that out loud.
"What'd I tell you about calling me that, Ashes." When Mae was younger she could never pronounce aster so she calls him Ashes. It's for her and him only, no one else is aloud to call him ashes.
Aster doesn't say anything, he just smiles. That's what he does every time she calls him that. If you were just so wondering Aster used to have a huge crush on Maeve as well, but he couldn't date her she was his little sisters best friend, that was against the 'girl code' right? Is there even such thing as a girl code? He was so in love with her that anytime he would over hear the three teens talking about boys, it would hurt him.
That's when he met Amanda. She really changed his mind about love. Aster fell head over heals for this girl, but in the back of his mind there's still that little voice telling him Maeve is the one for him. He didn't like it but it's been so long now that he kind of just got used to it.
"So, Sabrina tells me you're thinking about auditioning for that one show you guys love so dearly." He speaks bring her out of her day dreaming. She blushed up a bit. she had thought he never noticed her blushing, boy was she wrong. Her pink rosy cheeks and small yet bright smile send butterflies roaring throughout his body.
"Of course she did. It's nothing I don't think I'm going to do it." She mumbled mostly to herself, she just didn't want him to think she was ignoring him.
"Why's that? You love acting." The young boy was confused. The girl he grew to know would never turn down an offer this big, especially since it's her favorite show of all time.
"I just don't wanna get turned down that's all." Mae replies as she's putting her head down. Aster new that wasn't all true, and so he begged and pleaded until she finally gave in.
"I don't want see my dad after years of him being gone!" She practically screamed making the whole class give weird glances her way.
