My best friend is now my greatest enemy. She used to be so friendly and kind, but now she's suddenly cold and distant. I don't understand what happened between us. The last time was talked was when we had science together and we were comparing our courses for next year. We didn't have any classes together, but we still planned on getting together outside of school.
The weird thing was, when I walked into french class, I saw her sitting right there. I assumed she'd gotten her courses changed and forgot to tell me, but when I walked over to say hello, she just nodded and ignored me. For all of class she wouldn't speak to me and actually looked annoyed when I tried to talk to her. Then when I saw her after school, I asked her what was up and she told me she wasn't even in that class.
This went on for weeks. I stopped talking to her after a while and found new friends. I told them all of her secrets and everything she trusted me with. I made sure that she would never want to be my friend again. I refused to speak with her and I sit as far away from her as possible in french class. It was still bugging me why she would do this, so I talked to her older brother. I don't know him very well, because her family is pretty distant all the time, but he was friendly enough.
I asked him if his sister had anything weird going on, and he said no, she was just talking about how much she missed me and how she didn't know what was going on between us. I laughed.
"She doesn't know? She ignored me all the time in french class, and she acts like nothing happens afterwards."
"French class?" Her brother looked confused. "She doesn't have french class this semester."
"I see her every day," I said.
"No," he told me, "I've seen her schedule. Her twin sister just came in from her old school, though, so it must be her you've been seeing."
