This war has gone on for so long. This planet we've conquered is so odd— water everywhere, giant rocks that jut from the earth, and animals with dozens of legs. My parents tell me not to go near the alien prisoners, but I can't help myself. Sometimes I just need to look at them, because they look so strange.
We landed on this planet years ago, and we conquered it. We've been building rockets and crafts for a long time, and we finally managed to make one that could carry us through the universe. When we arrived, the aliens got scared. We didn't mean to start a war exactly, but our presidents and our kings and queens demanded it.
I stare into the cages we've built for them. They pace all day long, some of them. Others just sit there in silence. Some of them yell in their strange language. Everything about these aliens is strange, from their peachy skin to their two long legs. I've never seen a creature quite like these— human, they call themselves.
