It was a sunny day. Few white clouds drifted through the sky as the wind glided gently through Mothernatures creations. A big building towered over the trees, its shadows shading the courtyard from the suns glares. The building was Karasuno High School, and in only three days its students would be gone for summer break, where a grade would never return.

In one of the classrooms sat a student with gray hair and a soft face. He had a relaxed smile on his lips, as he calmly wrote down notes while the teacher talked. He blocked out the sound of the other students excited whispers, about all the things they wanted to do in the break. Instead, he let his mind drifting to volleyball, and the new players that may sign up. He broke out of his trance, then noticed he had drawn a volleyball instead of copying the teachers notes. He sighed, then flickered through the pages of the notebook, all filled with several drawings of volleyballs and stances.

He looked at the clock hanging over the door of the classroom. Only five minutes left. He decided that he may as well listen to the teacher.

"Now listen up," the teacher, Kumohito Aiko, said. "For those who has nothing interesting for the break: I have an offer for you. Lately the orphanage, Yanomata Orphanage, has been short on workers and need help with the children. You're getting paid and if you are interested, then raise your hand, now." There was silence and nobody raised their hands. He looked disappointed, but not surprised. Then two hands raised.

"Sugawara-kun and Sawamura-kun!" Kumohito exclaimed in delighted surprise. "Please stay here for a moment, everyone else can leave. See you tomorrow!" The students stood from their seats and left the classroom, some going to spread the rumor of the two boys 'noble deed.'

The gray haired boy, Sugawara Koushi, turned to smile at Sawamura Daichi sitting a few seats behind him. He had played volleyball with Daichi for what felt like forever, but the thought of Daichi now not only being his captain and teammate, but also colleague made him feel more like best friends than before. Daichi returned the smile, then removed a paperball from his black hair that his friend from the girls' volleyball team had placed when she left.

"Now Sawamura-kun, Sugawara-kun," Kumohito reclaimed their attention, "are you sure you want this? The orphanage doesn't want workers who only do it for money and doesn't take the job seriously, so please think carefully. Do you really want to do it?" He asked, more stated, sternly. He trusted them, they were two of his best students, but he had to make sure that they wouldn't backout halfway through. "We're sure," they replied together confidently.

Kumohito studied them for a moment, then smiled at them. "Alright, then I'll inform the orphanage. You're gonna go there tomorrow, or friday if you have plans, to get to know the kids and learn what to do. Good luck boys." He smiled proudly at them as they bowed and left the classroom. He had never felt more proud of his students or to be a teacher.

The two boys walked together through the empty hallways towards the gym. It was the last practice before the break, but it would be different this time. Most of the third years quit earlier through the year to study, but they still came sometimes to watch and play a set or two. This time there wouldn't be any third years, and it would only be five of the normal nine that usually was there.

"Why did you volunteer?" Sugawara asked. Daichi hummed in thought. "I liked the thought of helping the children. Kids in an orphanage has no family, no relatives, so I want to help make their lives easier." He smiled softly with distant eyes, lost in the daydream. Sugawara smiled gently at him and said, "I want to help too."

They walked in a comfortable silence, and before they knew it, they were in front of the entrance to the gym. They could hear yells and shoes squeking before they even opened the doors, but they could only hear three voices inside. They opened the doors and Daichi let Sugawara enter first.

"Suga-san, Daichi-san!" A shaved boy, Tanaka, called out to them when they came in. He and two others came over to them and began asking questions rapidly, almost not having time to breathe. "Calm down!" Daichi ordered, raising his hand in a stop motion.

"Is the rumors true?" A short boy with spiked hair and a yellow tot in the front asked curiously. "Did you take a job at the orphanage?" Daichi pinched his nose with an inaudible sigh, then answered. "Yes, it's true Nishinoya. We're going to help at the orphanage the whole summer, starting tomorrow." The two future second years exploded and praised them.

"How admirable!"

"Our senpais are so thoughtful and kind!"

"That's so awesome, captain! You and Suga-san will be in your natural habitat!"

Tanaka's last comment caught them off guard. Suga and Daichi blushed heavily and spluttered flustered. Nishinoya joined Tanaka and together they began teasing the captain and vice-captain.

"N-now, I don't think it's bad thing that they're good with kids." A timid, but big builded guy stuttered. "What about you Asahi-san? Are you good with kids?" Nishinoya asked, going into the future third years personal space bobble. He blushed and stuttered, the thought of taking care of kids too much to handle for the shy bear.

"Enough." Daichi ordered sternly. "We're going to the orphanage to help out tomorrow, so we'll celebrate the end of the year with the team today instead of tomorrow. Any objections?" The team answered 'no' and together they went to Sakanoshita Store. They spent the evening there having a good time, talking about how the first years were probably gonna be like, and getting scolded by the blonde worker at the cashier.

~{The next day - After school ended}~

The next day went agonizingly slow for Daichi and Suga. After they had spent the evening with the other three members, they had went on their way home together. Tanaka got a lift by his older sister, and Asahi and Nishinoya also went together. They had discussed their ideas of what it would be like in the orphanage, but the only thing they got out of it was a feeling of impatience and excitement.

It was again the last five minutes of the lesson, but Suga was distracted and kept sneaking glances at the time, willing the time to go faster in his head. He tried hearing what Kumoshito-sensei was saying, but none of it would enter his head. Daichi was in the same position, though he couldn't help but sneak glances at Suga too. Kumoshito noticed their impatience and hid a smile. He believed that it would do them good by taking care of real human beings, that way they'll learn more about responsabilty. They would after all not only be the oldest next year, but also the captain and vice-captain.

They were finally allowed to go and the whole class stopped in amazement. Suga and Daichi, who normally went calmly out of the class, was sprinting out of the door and down the halls with giant smiles on their faces. They raced down the stairs and nobody stopped them, instead they parted and made a path for them.

They arrived to the orphanage panting, but with their lips qirking up. After getting their breaths they straightened and with a sudden nervousity they rang the door bell. They could hear yelling from behind the door, then it opened.
