I waited in the cold room.

How did I get here?

It all happened too fast,

a blur in my usual daily rountine.

I was supposed to pick up my little girl, then do groceries.

It happened as I was leaving the store.

Two strange drunk men were looking at us strange.

A sneer on their faces, they left.

Odd.

I pulled out of the store and started driving.

A red car was tailing us, then when we entered the neighboorhood, it left.

Ok, go inside honey. Ok daddy!

She bobbed inside, her cheerfulness distracting me from my worry.

I went inside the backseat to retrieve the groceries.

I saw her backpack fell under the driver's seat,

so I bent to get it.

Then I heard it.

A blood curdling scream.

Coming from the house.

Caroline!

I rushed inside, hoping she only dropped some milk.

I froze, terror making me stiff as a stone.

The same drunkards.

In my house.

Pointing a knife,

at my last family alive.

Daddy!

I lunged toward one of the men, fury in my vision.

But it was too late.

At first, I thought the red I saw was from my anger, but then I realized:

It was my little girl's blood.

And now, forever I'm alone.

One man left before I could get to him, but that would be fine right now; he wasn't my main concern.

The man who killed Caroline was still here.

I yanked the man's bloodied blade.

Hey, man. Calm down! It's just a little brat. I took her off your hands.

Then I took off his hands.

Then I stabbed him.

Then again.

And again.

Then again, again, again, again, and again.

My hands were a dark red, as were most of the room.

Oh my gosh! I'm calling the police!

I hadn't realized that the door I'd flung open was still...open.

In an instant, three big men came barging in.

Pinned to the floor and cuffed.

And, that's how I got here.

It was either suffer in prison for the murder of a 'family friend' and daughter,

or go to this asylum and be 'cured' from my 'mental illness'.

Sigh.

I swear I'll get revenge on that second man, since I already got the first.

Now, forever I'm alone.

I looked up the waiting room walls.

Oakley Medical Asylum Facility.
