Passion's POV
___________________________
Passion rolled over and stretched, suddenly aware of the small ache in her left wing. "Passion.. did you sleep on top of your wing again?" Mango asked, suddenly flying over the side of his sister's vine hammock.
Passion shrugged and rubbed the pain's source, grumbling insults under her breath.
Her orange and red brother laughed and hooked his tail around the branch next to her, swinging back and forth as if imitating the dark tamarin monkey below.
Passion rolled her eyes at Mango, flinging her pink and dark purple wings that faded into the light neon green that covered the remainder of her body.
"Oh, foolish little sister..." Mango sang hoarsely, "You think you are so great... but beating you in a fight.. is a piece of cake!" Passion bared her fangs and lunged at Mango, knocking him off his perch and onto the branches below her hammock.
She giggled and gracefully flew down to her fuming brother, landing atop his bright yellow belly.
"Does this happen every morning?" Laughed a voice from behind the fighting siblings.
"Pretty much." Passion snarled, clamping her talons around Mango's snout to shush him.
"I'm Sunhigh." The black and dark gold nightwing explained, flying in front of Passion.
"This is my annoying sister, Passion, and I'm Mango." Mango hisses, finally thrusting his jaws open.
Sunhigh nodded, looking Passion up and down with his deep purple eyes.
"I have to go to venom class." Passion blurted, removing herself from Mango and beginning to hover above Sunhigh.
"I'll watch.. I have nothing better to do." The gold and black nightwing sighed, following Passion as she glided through the trees, avoiding branches and sloths.
Mango picked himself up and, angrily, realized his sister had made him late for his Tree Gliding lessons.
"So... are you good with your venom?" Sunhigh inquired, barely dodging a sleeping rainwing.
"You have to be if you're a teacher." Passion confessed as she landed on the rainforest floor.
A toucan flew past, squawking at the pair of dragons eagerly.
Sunhigh began showering Passion with questions, all related to Venom Training.
Of course, not wanting to be rude, she answered every one the best she could until they reached the venom training site.
Three other rainwing dragonets sat there, all tumbling over each other happily.
"Papaya, Kiwi, Pomelo, meet Sunhigh." Passion growled at the dragonets, announcing her arrival.
"Hey, nightwing! What're you doing here?" Kiwi asked, narrowing her magenta eyes.
Papaya and Pomelo exchanged nervous glances, remembering what past nightwings had done to dragonets who were tribeist.
"I'm watching your teacher, not creepily, of course." Sunhigh laughed, bowing his head slightly.
"I heard that nightwings have silver wings.. do you?" Papaya asked.
"Sort of." Sunhigh answered, flashing his gold and silver wing folds.
"Dragonets, we must get on with the training." Passion hissed, lowering her head to face the small rainwings.
She was only 8, but she somehow was much taller than these minute dragonets.
"Anyways, today we will be learning how to shoot our venom accurately. Watch, listen, learn, dragonets." Passion continued, wiping away some overgrown vines on the ground to reveal a target, painted with persimmon juice.
The tall green and pink rainwing positioned the target up against a tree a few meters away and backed up to a long line marking where the dragonets would shoot from.
"Watch." She murmured, ducking as though she was about to attack something and spraying a line of black acid at the target, which hit the exact center.
"Listen to me; you shoot long sprays by pressure. Think that you're actually about to spray a bad dragon... and shoot." Passion explained as she lined up the dragons to take turns attempting to hit the target.
Papaya went first, hitting the bottom half of the outer target ring.
Passion patted her student's shoulder affectionately, also watching to see how Pomelo would do.
His venom hit the spot right above Papaya's, in the center of the outer ring.
Lastly Kiwi went, her usual brown, green, and pink scales flashing orange and black, with a hint of white.
The sightly tall dragonet shot with fury, baring the rest of her sharp fangs all the while.
The venom sizzled to a stop right below Passion's; causing Kiwi's scales to turn completely white and pale pink.
"I did it!" She exclaimed, her scales slowly turning brown and green again.
"Next class is Tree Gliding, you know the way there." Passion told her students as Kiwi grinned triumphantly.
"Sunhigh, follow me." Sunhigh smiled smugly, a gift he had inherited from his father.
The pair flew away from the site and into the trees until they were just hovering above the rainforest.
"Down there!" Passion hissed, pointing a claw at the large talonful of monkeys swinging through the trees gleefully.
"What do you want with them?" Sunhigh asked, attempting to hide his smirk at how maliciously happy the rainwing looked.
"I want to invite them to lunch, of course!" Passion laughed, diving down at the monkeys.
She snatched a group of them from the trees and flew upwards until she was next to Sunhigh.
"I thought all rainwings were vegetarians?" Sunhigh asked, spellbound.
"Not me. Meat is good, don't you agree?" Passion giggled, flying down towards the forest floor, the nightwing following closely behind.
She tore into every monkey until they were all dead, knarly, bloody piles of slightly furry flesh.
"Dig in." Sunhigh piped, eatig one of the monkeys as Passion slowly picked at hers.
