The Missing

It is a while later, Eevee has warmed up a bit to Jay but is still uneasy around him. Jay and I were sitting on my bed, playing games like we used to. We played a round of black jack but decided to move to yatzee instead. It was just like old times, it made me realize how much I missed hanging out with him. I remember just how sad I was the day he moved. I gotta say the place was beautiful, it was a mountainess area with trees that reminded me of fantasies. But I couldnt help but wonder why Jay moved back here.

"Hey Jay, why did you move back here after living in such a beautiful place? I know even I wouldnt have wanted to move back."

"Well" he rolled his dice, rolling almost a full house, with two lay on the three, one on the five, and the last one landing on a six. He frowned and picked up the outcast dice. "I guess I missed this old place. Once I found out we were moving back I was shocked to say the least, but at the same time kinda happy. And once I saw the familiar senury and the land where my childhood lay, I found how much I missed this old place.....and of course, you." He said the last couple words with such silence and embarrasment I barley noticed. It sent a jolt of happiness and warmth through my body. I smiled but Jay didnt notice as he rolled the five he needed for his full house

"So what should we do about Eevee?" I asked in an attempt to change the subject, even though i almost wanted to continue the last conversation, it brought a feeling I wanted to grab and hold onto for as long as possible, like when you hug someone and never wanna let go.

Jay poked up his head and layed his pencil down. "What do you mean?"

"Well we can't just hide her forever" I said as I looked at the sleeping ball of fluff laying beside me. "We need to figure out what she is, and where she came from."

Jay put his hand to his chin and looked down with intense eyes. I twirled my pencil while Jay was in deep thought. What even is Eevee. Is she a fox creature, or something else. She has features of to many animals to be a hybrid. Maybe shes a new creature.

I was sprang back to earth as Jay clapped his hands enthousiasticly. "Well, we can start with your father, he knows a lot about creatures and hybrids."

"But my father is on a buissness trip with Dr. Owens, we would have to wait till he gets back and that could take weeks."

Jay looked up at me and rose his eyebrow like I had just said the stupidest thing ever.
"But...I just saw Dr.Owens this morning, he said he was working on a big project."

We both sat in silence as if we were both extremly confused. After a while I couldnt take the awkward silence of the situation so I thought of a way to continue the flow of words.

"Do you think he just hasnt left yet?"

Jay put his hand on his chin and rested there for a few moments. "That might be it, but why would he stay after your father has already left? Wouldnt it be better if they left together?"

I looked out the window beyond my bed and twirled my hair around my finger. The clouds hovered in the sky like light marshmallows and the houses added to the calm atmosphere. I crow flew past a house and I watched as it landed on a pole and cleaned its feathers. When looking down I could see many a houses and then the small labritory, the  building was the color of blue silver. The building was overgrown with plants that made it look like an old cottage and stand out from the variety of houses.

"How about we go see for ourselves then" I got up and rushed for my bag which I threw over my shoulder and let it rest on my side.

"Are you sure, Dr owen might be bu-" he was cut off with a yelp as I grabbed his arm and hurried out the door. "It will be fine, he wont mind I promise"
