Chapter 2: A Special Mission

(Y/N)'s POV

I swear, I knew that Samus' ship would look so much cooler inside but boy was I wrong...it looks epic! I cannot express how amazing the ship is any more than I can. I am currently sitting on a passenger seat behind the driver's and looking out the front window. Then I hear Samus clear her throat quietly. "So, (Y/N), what made you decide to take on a role as a bounty hunter hm?" She asked me. I quickly turn off the distorted voice box in my helmet to change into my regular voice, which still sounds masculine but just a bit higher. "Well, Miss Aran..." I begin to say before Samus interrupts me. "Excuse me, (Y/N) but you don't have to address me formally. You can simply call me by my name." She told me and I rub the back my helmet. "R-Right. S-Sorry Samus." I said before lightly shaking my head. "Anyway...I wanted to find a way to earn extra cash. And I heard a lot of people, including big corporations, are willing to pay people like me to do some work and...yeah. That and my father used to be a bounty hunter himself and I wanted to follow in his footsteps." Samus looks behind to look at me. "Oh, so your father did this kind of work before?" She asks me, which I reply with a shake on the head. "No. Well...sorta. He did catch people and at times kill wanted criminals. But nothing like what we just did." I said. Samus nods then turns back around to keep control of her ship. "Ah, I see." For a while, it got pretty quiet afterwards. As much as I wanted to continue the conversation with something new, I didn't know what and I didn't want to make things awkward. As I was looking around the ship, I heard Samus pressing some buttons and sighing. "We've finally arrived, (Y/N)." She said to me as she slows the ship down and lowers it to the docking bay. Once we have landed, she opens the exit out the ship then gets up from her seat. I get up from my seat as well but then I clear my throat to get her attention, which worked as she turned around to me before using her pod. "Yes?" She asks. I look at her and gently tap on my headgear. "If you wouldn't mind..." I start before I switch my voice box back to distortion. "...you won't tell anyone about my real voice?" I ask her. Samus just blinks her eyes through the visor, which even though it is green, you can still see her eyes, then just shrugs. "Yeah...I guess so?" She says, confused about my request. "Thanks, Samus." I say before she enters the pod and pressed the only button there and she goes down. After a few seconds, the pod gets back inside the ship. I walk inside the pod and press the button Samus had pushed then it takes me down like an elevator. It touches the ground lightly and here I am at the bottom of the ship, seeing the base of the Galactic Federation for the first time. Sure, I've received contracts here but they were from messages and not me coming here to get assignments. This is just the docking area and I see so many staff members doing their jobs like patrolling, repairing vehicles, you name it. As I was taking it all in, Samus pokes at my arm to get my attention and I look over at her. "Hm? Yeah?" I ask. Samus shakes her head and points to the entrance to the base. "We should get going. We do not want to keep the commander waiting." She says to me. "This way." She then leads me inside the base, where this place basically has everything. I can see signs for homes available, cafeterias, briefing rooms, just anything. It's like another home for people while it is mainly a military base. It's just incredible! It's like this place is its own planet but in a shuttle! As I am amazed by how this base is, Samus and I head for an elevator but we had to wait for it to get to our floor. It took a few seconds but it arrived, except we had to wait more because there is a group of soldiers in it. They all come out one at a time while greeting Samus with a salute. After finally the last one left, we get in the elevator and I just watch them head for the docking bay. "Oh, hello (Y/N). Nice armor you got." I say to myself, mocking the soldiers. Samus did a quick giggle. I look over at her and quickly turn off my voice box to speak in my regular voice. "What? I bet they never seen armor like this ever so why couldn't they give a quick hello?" I ask Samus, feeling a bit jealous of her popularity...although I never mind it because she is a badass and in a way, I look up to this bounty hunter. She shakes her head and look back at the door of the elevator closing and the elevator starts moving us up. "You'll get there when they find a reason to respect you." She says. I still look over at her. "Like what? Armor and cool stuff isn't enough to respect you? And the amount of jobs you do?" I ask her, wanting to learn more about what it means to be a true bounty hunter. She look at me as the elevator doors open. "You'll know soon enough." She tells me then walks out. I sigh softly then turn my voice box back on then follow behind her. When we both walk out of the elevator, we are now in a large navigation room with a couple of people using computers to look around the galaxy we are currently in now and to be sure no Space Pirates are in range on the base. It's impressive how something like this could hold many rooms and equipment. Samus and I walk up the stairs behind the navigation room and make our way inside a briefing room, where a man wearing a military uniform is sitting on a hover chair, reading a holographic notebook. He looks up to see that we are both here and set the notebook down on the table. "Ah. Samus. (Y/N). Welcome aboard." He says to us then stand up. "I know we have not meet in person, (Y/N). So I will reintroduce myself. I am Commander Vargas. Unfortunately, Captain Yung has called in sick so he left me in charge to give you a mission briefing." He says. I nod. "It's no problem. So what is our mission?" I ask. Commander Vargas smiles and place a small chip on the table. "Straight to the point huh? Alright..."
