Okay, so maybe you lied a tiny bit.

But, you couldn't help it! You had tried, honestly, but you just couldn't bring yourself to throw away such a sweet thing. Bram had given this to you, no boy had ever really paid you any mind. But he did, and he gave you a gift to show it.

You had shown up extra early to school to throw out the flower without any witnesses. But, your hand trembled so much as you held it over the trash can. And in the end, you couldn't bring yourself to do it. So you had shoved it into your bag and planned on turning it into a paper weight later at home. That way, you could preserve it nicely.

Later on, when Frankie had arrived to school, she didn't question the gift at all. She simply ran up to you with her arm linked with Abbey's, and told you to follow her before linking your arm with hers as well.

Now, the three of you were sitting in front of Bloodgood's office.

"I  can't wait to show Bloodgood all our ideas for building unity!" Frankie sat between you and Abbey as the three of you waited.

"Thanks for including me. Now people see how bubbly I am." You and Frankie starred at Abbey with confusion, "'Nother joke."

You picked at your fingers a bit, "Uh, yeah. Thanks for letting me tag along too, I really needed to get my mind off things."

Frankie looked at you with a small smile, and seemed to want to say something, but any thoughts you all had were interrupted as you heard Nightmare struggling inside the office. Along with her cries, you also heard Bloodgood, along with a couple of other voices seeming to struggle as well. One of those voices belonged to a man.

"What's going on in there?" Frankie remained seated even though you could tell that she wanted to investigate.

The door burst open and Nightmare ran out as fast as she could. Frankie gave the two of you a concerned look before getting up and poking her head inside the office. "Headmistress Bloodgood?"

"Yes, uh, Francie?" You and Abbey joined her side. Inside the office, Bloodgood sat at her desk. A blonde man stood next to her, and there was a giant object behind him covered by a sheet.

Frankie let out a chuckle, "Frankie, actually-"

"Frankie." The blonde man interrupted her, "I am Administrator Van Hellscream. I am here to help with the transition."

You and Abbey glanced at one another as Frankie brightened up, "Oh! Honor to meet you. We've been doing the same thing, you wanna see?"

"I meant to tell you, " Bloodgood spoke up from her desk, "Your services are no longer required. I'm disbanding the welcoming committee. Job well done." She looked down at her desk and straightened her papers in disinterest.

"What?" Frankie sounded so distraught. You and Abbey glanced at each other once more. Something seemed off about this.

"Now run along."

She looked down to the floor, "Yes, ma'am."

"I'm so sorry. What a drag, mate. Did Bloodgood say why?" After that interaction, you all went to talk with Lagoona, who happened to be with Gil.

"No, she was acting really strange." As Frankie conversed, Abbey elbowed your side. You rubbed the spot as you gave her a look, and you followed her gaze.

"All started when he showed up." She pointed towards Van Hellscream.

Currently, the said man was holding a brown bag and exciting some of the werewolves around him. Pulling out a treat, it got all of them to cheer and throw their arms out in want.

"The old bloke? He seems nice. Gave me this great monsterizer." Lagoona pulled a pink bottle out of her locker and squirted a glob onto her hands.

Abbey's frown deepened, "In mountains, we have saying:'When stranger come with many gifts in one bag, he has many secrets in other.'"

Although you started to feel anxious at the meaning of her words, Frankie didn't feel the same.

"I have no idea what that means. But something doesn't add up."

Out of the corner of your eye, Hoodude walked past, only to be stopped by the blonde man. You felt your gaze widen as Hellscream started to patch up Hoodude's arm. This made a couple of the mansters around them grip their own arms and double over.

This guy was definitely bad news.

"We need to know more about this guy, let's follow him." With that, Frankie, Abbey, and you all followed his direction.

Following him to the gym, Van Hellscream approached Draculaura, Clawd, and Romulus. The three of you tried to duck behind the bleachers, but since you were at the end of the line, Draculaura saw you.

"(Y/n)! Over here." She waved an arm at you. Everyone was staring at you now, you couldn't just pretend to not be there. So, with a reluctant smile, you waved back at her slightly and made your way over.

You went to go stand next to Draculaura, but she nudged you towards Romulus. So, you went to stand by him.

You felt Romulus gently nudge against your arm as he gave you a signature smile and said a smooth 'hey'. You gave him a small wave and kept your smile up as Van Hellscream grabbed your attention once more.

"So the captain of the casketball team is dating a vampire." He gave a look over Clawd and Draculaura.

"Crazy right?" Romulus leaned against the wall.

"Well I used to be with this guy, Heath, but he turned out to be a jerk." She cuddled up against Clawd, "Clawd rescued me, he's my knight in furry armor!"

Van Hellscream grabbed Clawd's shoulder, "Quite impressive." He continued to talk to them, but he was dragging them away to get a bit of privacy. And, you really couldn't pay attention to what he was saying since you could feel Romulus' gaze on you.

You didn't want to look at him. You knew that he had feelings for you, and you didn't know how you felt about him. He was handsome, in your opinion. But you had thought that you liked Bram just a couple of days earlier.

But, just as he had started talking, Hellscream seemed to have ended his chat as he walked past you and Romulus.

"Did you hear that?"

"Huh?" You quickly turned towards him. You hadn't been listening to anything because of your nervousness.

"The thing he said about vampires." He had been giving a mean look towards the couple, but his gaze softened once it landed on you, "How they suck the life out of their companions or whatever."

"You don't actually believe that, do you?" You glanced towards Frankie and Abbey, and they were trying to get you to follow them so they didn't lose Van Hellscream.

"I believe in not putting the people I care about in danger."

"I can assure you that Draculaura is harmless-"

"I'm not just talking about protecting Clawd."

You glanced back towards him. He had gotten a lot closer than you had expected. You wanted to back up, but you were already so close to the wall, and he had one of his arms up against it as he leaned over you.

"If what that guy says is true, and if he's a monster expert, then maybe I need to make sure those vampires stay away from you, especially that blondie."

After a few more seconds of just staring at each other, you placed one of your hands against his chest and lightly pushed him away. "Uh, thanks for your concern, Romulus. I...I'll keep that in mind."

Before you could remove your hand from his body, he grabbed it and kept it in place, "Make sure you do." He gave it a squeeze before letting it go and joining Clawd and Draculaura again.

You quickly made your way back to Frankie and Abbey to follow Van Hellscream. Your hand felt tingly.
