-Second Year at UA-
Todoroki walked down the corridor, looking for a room to work out in. He looked through one of the gym windows to see his friend, Iida, practicing some kicks. Somehow Iida noticed his presence, or coincidentally turned around at that moment, and waved at him, beckoning him in. "Hello, Todoroki! I noticed you through the window, and thought you might like to spar with me. I have a new move that I would like to try." Silently, Todoroki nodded and slipped off his jacket. Standing there in a white t-shirt, he stretched as Iida revved his engines. A warm-up unique to him, most likely. After a while, the two were ready to go.
Iida nodded, as if to say "start", and without warning Todoroki slammed his right hand to the ground and sent an icy glacier hurtling towards Iida. With a burst from his engines, he kicked the ice and it shattered into thousands of tiny shards. Before Todoroki had time to react, Iida was running towards him at the speed of a car. A close range fight? I'm going to have to change tactics. Bringing himself upright, he held out his left hand towards the incoming blur. Before a jet of flame could come out, the top of Iida's foot had made contact with Todoroki's stomach at an angle that sent him flying. He was slightly winded, but otherwise unharmed and shooting through the air so high he could almost touch the (extremely high) roof of the gym. A defensive move, to create distance. Clever. I wouldn't expect anything less from you, Class President. His thoughts were interrupted by the sudden feeling of falling. No big deal, he held out his right hand and tried to create an ice ramp to slide down. However, his head wasn't in it and all that formed was a small platform that he just skidded off. What? Why did I mess up? Why is Iida still on my mind? These questions suddenly diminished in importance as the ground was fast approaching. It was too late to stop his fall without any injuries. Shit. What am I going to d- Suddenly, his thought was cut off as Iida appeared, running underneath him with his arms extended. He must've ran over when he noticed that Todoroki wasn't going to land safely. Todoroki fell, safe and sound, in Iida's arms as the boy skidded to a halt.
Iida couldn't fully support Todoroki's weight for a sustained period of time, and let his legs drop to the ground, but other than that the two stayed still for a moment. Both of them were a little shaken, although it was only visible on Iida. "Todoroki, I apologise sincerely! That was extremely irresponsible of me, I had no idea th-"
"It's okay," Todoroki cut him off with a small, rare smile. Silence fell between them, and in that moment, Todoroki noticed things. He noticed how Iida's glasses were slightly askew, and how beautiful the blue eyes behind them were. He noticed how Iida's hand on his back felt strong and comforting. He noticed how soft his skin and hair looked, and was suddenly hit with the urge to lift his arm and touch him. His eyes trailed down to his lips, and his sight lingered there as he noticed how close they were. After a second, Todoroki could swear that they had gotten even closer. Before his mind had time to really process this, he felt the sensation of something touching his lips. It took a split second for him to realise. He just kissed me. Or did I kiss him? I'm not that sure. Todoroki had never kissed someone before, but he got the feeling that Iida hadn't either because he assumed more was meant to be happening than them just staying still with their faces touching. It was still nice though, and he was disappointed when Iida pulled away and stepped back, allowing Todoroki to stand up properly.
Todoroki gently touched his fingertips to his own lips, then looked at Iida. His face held a mix of emotions, but there was fear so clear and piercing that it hurt even Todoroki's unemotional heart. "I-I'm..." Iida stuttered, seemingly at a loss for words. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to, I just... I had wanted to do that all year and something just took over I don't- I don't know. I shouldn't have done that I should've asked you first, oh gosh. How could I do something so, so stupid! I'll never do it again, I apologise about all that, Todoroki." With a bright red face, Iida started backing away.
"Wait," Todoroki called, just as Iida was turning around to leave. Softly, he placed his hands on his shoulders, only having to look up a little bit. "Don't apologise, if it means you won't do it again."
Iida blinked, "But it was rude of me to not ask your consent... wait, what? You want me to do it a-"
Todoroki interrupted him, his face still unreadable except for a small smirk that started spreading on his mouth, "I guess I'll have to do it myself. How embarrassing." He lifted his hands and flung his arms around his neck in a sort of half-hug, closed his eyes, and kissed Iida. When he pulled away and opened his eyes, Iida somehow looked even more flustered. That's pretty cute. "Oh, it seems I forgot to ask you first. Hm, I guess we're even?" He raised his white eyebrow.
"T-that's not how it works." Was all Iida could manage to say, but a billion more thoughts were evidently running through his head. Eventually, he managed to spit the biggest question out, "I'm confused, Todoroki. Do you like me in a romantic sense?"
"Yes."
"Oh."
"Hmm."
"Well... uh, I do too..."
"That's good."
"Yeah..."
Awkwardness seeped out of every word. When it came to romance, these two were possibly the most clueless out of the whole class. Todoroki looked around the room in thought, like there was a tricky puzzle he was trying to solve. "Are we meant to... go on a date now?"
"Er, I think so? We should talk about it, maybe look it up. Do you want to go now, did I hurt you too bad?"
Todoroki shook his head, laughing softly, "You didn't hurt me, however you did cause me to become impatient, and I would like to go do that right away."
Iida wasn't sure if he had ever heard him laugh before, and was taken aback by how, for lack of a better word, amazing it was. They both walked off to collect their belongings. When they drew close again, Todoroki reached out his hand and brushed it against Iida's. "Would you like to hold hands? I believe that is a romantic thing to do."
Iida audibly gasped in surprise, but managed to compose himself enough to say "Yes, I would love to." They joined hands, and Iida noted how warm the other boy's left hand felt. Maybe that was why his face looked redder than Kirishima's hair. Or maybe it's because these boys are the only people who could make such a big deal out of such a small thing.
One thing was for sure. The future for these boys was going to be... interesting.
