Part Four: When it started snowing
When it started snowing a few days ago I was running as fast as I could, planning on not stopping until I just couldn't go anymore.
But then snow twirled past my window, and I became aware of how desperately cold I was.
I wanted to stop then and there but I couldn't.
I still had a little more energy to burn.
So I kept running, and I didn't pay any attention when my phone started to ring, or even my laptop started to play that familiar tune that plays whenever I'm getting a skype call.
Finally when I ran out of energy, I collapsed to the ground and crawled to bed, where I slept for hours.----------
I'm walking to work, the snow falling around me, constantly.
I shiver as the snow fall touches my skin.
Gazing upwards I open my mouth for a moment, catching snow in my mouth.
I'm almost at work.
Today is one of my longer shifts, and I expect that when I get home I'll fall straight into bed.
Cheyne has always hated the days I have longer shifts, he expects me to able to play League of Legends with him most days, and a day where I can't play just annoys him.
With Cheyne, I wouldn't expect anything else.
But now he had others to occupy him, William, Poppy and Brandon will keep him busy.
Now that we'd sort of become a team, it became expected that we practise together as much as we could.
Sometimes we switched roles, but more often than not we stuck to our mains.
Which is me going support, Cheyne going adc, Poppy jungling, Brandon mid and William going top.
This was where we did best, all of us in our mains.
Poppy enjoyed laughing at me when I tried jungling, though.
If I were her, I'd laugh at me, too.------------
The next morning I run until my legs colapse under me.
After I go to my desk, my legs shaking, my heart beating fast.
I try to steady my breath before joining the Skype call I know is there.
Poppy, William, Cheyne and Brandon have been doing matches all morning, waiting for me to join them.
'Hey guys,' I greet.
'Alice,' greetes Poppy, sounding pleased.
'You caught us right near the end of a match,' laughs Cheyne.
William hums, 'Good timing.'
'How's the match going?" I ask, opening League as I speak.
Now Brandon speaks, 'Good, I'm 13/4/7 and we've been winning all the team fights.'
I laugh, 'We'll do better next match.'
'You going Soraka?' questions Brandon.
'Of course.'
Cheyne snorts, 'you should go Leona, I barely ever see you play her.'
I frown, 'For good reason, I'm not good with Leona.'
'That's why you practise,' replies Cheyne.
William hums his agreement, 'I agree with Cheyne.'
At this I rolled my eyes, 'You always agree with Cheyne.'
Now William is the one to snort, 'Not always, barely ever in fact, we just happen to agree when it comes to League of Legends.'
'Victory!' comes the announcers voice from all their computers.
'Awh, yiss,' crows Poppy in a loud voice.
I open up team builder and invite them all.
