A Forever Friend

"Girl thats What I've been trying to tell you" I told my best friend Cece.
"Azure, how can you like him when he flirts with almost every girl in here." She waited for my answer but i knew she was right. How could i like David when he flirts with not only me but other women at work; I don't even know if he is single. " You know I'm right Azure, thats why you Ain't got nothin to say" she said while putting the label on the box before sending it down the line. We worked at a warehouse that makes electrical parts, but me and Cece were material handlers which meant scanning in the material and putting them in boxes with the labels on them; sending them down the conveyer so the man could load them in the truck to be shipped out.
" I'll tell you what Azure... why don't you just go up to him yourself and ask David how he feels about you or you tell him how you feel about him and see what he says?" I was afraid though. I was afraid of rejection. What if he was just playing with me or he just wanted the attention because he is known to joke around a lot.
I took deep breaths. "Girlll I'm scared as hell. What if he doesn't like me?" I looked at her with nervousness. " You never know unless you ask Azure. Even though I don't want you to like him i will support whatever decision you make because I'm your best friend" we smiled at each other.
The bell rang signaling that it was time to get ready to go and clock out. Me and Cece always walked together to our cars every night. I only had known her for 5 months but it felt as if we had known each other forever. We started hanging out more and she even helped me move into my first apartment. She was there for me when i was depressed and when I couldn't talk to my parents about anything. Despite that I've never had a real best friend like her, i knew for a fact God gave her to me for a reason.
"Girl text me when you get home so i can know you made it safely" i yelled across the parking lot as we went our separate ways. A lot of times she had to sit in the car to wait for her fiancé to get off because he was in a different department.

Now that I lived by myself I didn't have to worry about my parents blowing up my phone whenever i wanted to stay and talk to Cece. As soon as i walked in the door i turned the living room light on, every night when i got home i checked every room and closet door just to make just i was the only one in my apartment. My brother always joked that i was scary but a girl has to make sure she is safe. I turned on my room light and stripped out of my clothes and put them in the hamper so i could get in the shower. It felt do good to come home in the peace and quiet knowing that i was under my own roof and no one else could judge me or tell me what to do.
As soon as i get out the shower my phone rings. "Aw shoot" I had forgotten to call my mama. " Hello" i answered. " You were suppose to call me Azure! I thought our agreement was that whenever you get home you call me so i know you made it home safe." I rolled my eyes because she was treating me as if i was 12 instead of 22. " I forgot mama, you know i forget sometimes" i said. " mhmm" i heard her say through the phone.
"Hey why don't you invite Cece over for dinner this Sunday?" She suggested
"Okay I'll ask her but I'm pretty sure she will say yes" i said already texting her while i was still on the phone.
"Alright i will let you go back to sleep." I said knowing my she had to wake up for work early in the morning.
" Goodnight mama" i said
"Goodnight Azure...I love you"
"I Love you to"
