Ruel pov:
Leaving for tour was always something that made me upset. Not the tour itself, the leaving everyone at home. Mainly leaving y/n alone.
She always struggled with being alone, but I never really knew how to help her. Probably because I didn't know the cause of it. There were 3 things that always made me think;
1. she has close to no self confidence, which means she doesn't get out enough, only for work & family
2. I don't see her enough. I'm always so busy & it's too overwhelming for her to even come with me
3. she has brothers for siblings. She had an older sister Brooke, but she got cancer really young and died.
It's hard for her to be happy sometimes. She's not depressed, she just gets scared when things start to look good. I guess it's a fear it's gonna get bad? I don't know, she's hard to work out.

Ruel: I feel like I don't know that much about you.
y/n: well what is there to know, I'm an open book.

She was anything BUT an open book.
Over the years we shared a lot and she started to get more comfortable with me, but never enough for me to feel comfortable with her.
-flashback-
One summer we were out surfing with friends, the first time in 3 months she had been out of he house properly, when a few boys started to flirt with her. She was uncomfortable
Ruel: y/n wanna come get a drink?
y/n: I'm right with my water thanks
Ruel: can you come here please
y/n: I'm talking to people Ruel
I was getting pissed off, so all I could so was grab her arm and pull her away from them.
y/n: what the fuck! Leave me alone!
Ruel: no! You keep to yourself too much and then we come here your flirting with all the guys
Harry: someone's jealous
Ruel: piss off harry
I was. Green fuming jealous. She talks to those boys so easily but she struggles to get a sentence in with me
Ruel: I don't understand you sometimes. You claim to be my best friend but you can't talk to me without freaking out
y/n: it doesn't matter just let me go
Ruel: not until you tell me what's wrong!
y/n: Ruel your scaring me
Y/n pov:
He kept yelling and i hated yelling. I love him with all my heart but I just couldn't let myself get to close in case he left me
Ruel: just please. Tell me what's wrong
y/n: I have to go to work. Lila let's go
Ruel let me go and with tears down my face, I slowly walked up the steps to the showers
Ruel pov:
Lila: let it go Ruel. She needs time
Ruel: Lila I've given her all the fucking time she needs and wants. What else can I do?
Lila: I don't know. Maybe admit your feelings?
What she said made sense. Tell her I like her? Or don't, and keep going like this? I needed the right time
Rob: you can't walk away from all your problems Lee!
Ruel: shut up Rob
Rob: who shoved a stick up your ass?
I turned to look at y/n. She was gone
Lila: I'm gonna be late for work, but she needs to know. Now might not be the best time, but soon
I nodded my head and she walked away, running down the street
Lila pov:
When I finally got to work y/n was already busting her ass. She needed an outlet and I guess it was work. She took an order and started to make their coffee's, so I had an opening
Lila: you wanna talk about it?
y/n: I don't know what he wants from me.
Lila: I think there's more to it then that y/n. I'm not stupid
She walked out to the table and dropped the coffee & cake off, then practically came running back. I looked around and saw why. Ruel decided to pop in
y/n: he's got to be kidding
Lila: I'll take his table don't worry
y/n: thank you
Ruel pov:
Lila cane walking over to my table. She looked like she was about to rip my head off honestly.
Lila: the hell are you doing Ruel. I told you she needs time
Ruel: I just wanted to know she's okay
Lila: she's fine
Ruel: good. Can I get a water please
Lila: no
She walked off. Wow
Y/n pov:
Of course he came here. I'm trying to work and the asshole just wants to distract me.
Lila: he just wants to know your ok
y/n: I hope you told him to suck one
Lila: sure I did
Lila pov:
Lila: you wanna talk about it now?
y/n: I just. I don't know how I'm supposed to feel about him.
Lila: wait why? You don't have a crush on him do you?
y/n: would you be quiet! I dont know, that's why I'm distancing myself
Oh shit, she does. This could get messy. I've seen best friends start dating and it usually ends up in heartbreak and tears.
Lila: well he likes you too.
y/n: no he doesn't
Lila: yeah he does, look at him staring at you
She looked over and shocker he's looking as well
Lila: Now take him his water
y/n: argh fine
She walks to him and while she's not looking I give Ruel a big thumbs up
Ruel pov:
Ruel: I'm sorry about earlier, I just feel like your pushing me away
y/n: it's fine. And look, I'll admit it. I have been distant lately but I want to work shit out and get closer
She was ready to open up to me. 10 years and now she's ready. Took her long enough
Y/n pov:
I was finally ready to open up to him. He truly cared and I hate that it took me 10 years to figure it out.
