FLASHBACK
It'd been six months since Christmas.. six months since Shauna's saddening phone call with Emma.
Summer break had come to an end, and Shauna had spent everyday with the love of her life, Serena. She loved every minute of it, but unfortunately the break came to an end, and the girls had to go back to trainers school.
It was their last semester of trainers school and Serena and Shauna were already planning their journey around Kalos. They truly couldn't wait, and neither could Bulbasaur or Fennekin.
Shauna and Serena entered the school grounds, hand in hand, as their Pokemon partners walked by their sides.
They entered the corridor and walked down it, stopping when Serena noticed Calem. "Sere! Shauna! I'm so glad to see you guys again!" Calem chimed, standing beside his locker with his Pokemon partner, Espurr. "It's good to see you again too!" Serena chimed.
"What did you guys get up to over summer?" The raven haired boy asked, looking from Serena to Shauna. "We went on some roadtrips and did lots of camping." Shauna chimed. "But also lots of shopping." Serena added. "Sounds fun." Calem shrugged.
Something caught Shauna's eye, further down the corridor. She noticed a figure turn down the hallway, followed by an Espurr. Shauna turned to Serena, "Hey babe, I'll be back in a moment." She said to her girlfriend. "Okay hun." Serena chimed, as Shauna let go of her hand and walked away. Serena went back to talking to Calem.
Shauna turned down a corner to see Emma and her Pokemon partner Espurr. "Emma!" Shauna called out. Emma heard Shauna and picked up her pace, which caused Shauna to also walk faster.
"Emma! Stop! I need to talk to you!" Shauna pleaded, as Emma finally came to a halt. "You can't avoid me forever.." The brunette said, as she finally came face to face with her sister. "What do you want sis?" Emma asked.
"I want to come home.. I miss you so much." Shauna confessed. "I miss you too.." Emma sighed. "Do you even know why Mum and Dad kicked me out?" Shauna asked. Emma nodded, "They eventually told me.. they told me that you fell in love with a girl. I take it, they were talking about Serena." She explained. Shauna nodded
"Look.. I don't see a problem with it.. infact I'm happy for you two.. but the only way Mum and Dad will let you back in our family is if you leave Serena. I'm sorry Shaunee." Emma explained. Shauna sighed, "I didn't want things to be this way.." She confessed, before she walked away, hurt and angry. Emma looked down, "I didn't either.." She thought.

10 months later
Time passed, and Shauna was still trying to get over the fact that her family disowned her. She didn't want to break up with Serena, and she tried to continue living with her and moving forward. It was nearly Christmas, well over a year since Shauna moved in with Serena and Grace. Shauna wanted to enjoy another Christmas with her lover, but something had been on her mind.
Shauna really loved Serena, she didn't think she had it in her to love someone the way she loved Serena.. but she wanted to go home and be with her family again.. she wanted a family again. The brunette hadn't slept properly for a couple of days, with a huge decision on her mind.
Shauna approached Serena's bedroom, deciding to talk to her about it. What Shauna didn't know, was that she would end up making the biggest mistake of her life;
Letting Serena go.
