You know that scared feeling you get around your older brother's friends? The one when you feel like a six-year-old compared to them?

I never get that feeling.

Which is why when Jake asks if Jay and I want to meet his friends, my response is "Hell yeah!"

I took the box from thr car myself and walked into Jake's house. It was a large, white cottage with an oak tree in the front lawn. A good thing that the oak tree had a bench underneath it, big enough for three people. Harringtons love to read.

My room was at the back, closer to the forest. A black, plush carpet covered the floor and the walls were black, except for the one behind my queen-sized bed, which was a deep purple. A wood desk was next to the window and the en suite bathroom were the same colors.

I set the box on the desk carefully and put my laptop on the bed. Jay's room was across from mine and Jake's was down the hall.

I took out my iPod and put on September by Green Day, before starting to put stuff away.

By the time I was done, my iPod was playing Break Your Little Heart by All Time Low and I could hear soft voices fron the living room when I paused the song.

I walked out of my room, wearing skinny jeans and a tank top that made my tattoos visible. Black boots covered my feet and my black hair hung in natural waves.

I stopped just in front of the door, the conversation in the room intriguing me."We can't tell her. She doesn't even know about Mom." I heard Jay's voice say. What about my mom?"You don't want her to find out on her own." I heard a girl's voice respond. Who was she? What didn't I want to find out on my own? "Alicia's tough. If she did find out-and I'm not saying she will-she would be fine."

I gave up and walked into the room to see three guys and a girl talking to Jake and Jay. The guys had black hair and blue eyes, but the girl had blonde hair and blue eyes with a brown spot in the right one. Just like ours.

"Hi." The girl noticed me first and the others turned to look at me. I recognized one of them. "Hey. Hi Matt." "Hi kiddo." He ruffled my hair as I stood next to my twin brother. I glared playfully at him and pretended to fix it. "Hi, I'm Alicia."

"I'm Alexis, this is Daniel and Nathan." She introduced all of them. I like this girl. "You're Matt's sister, aren't you?" "How do you know that?" She looked pointedly at her brother. "Oh, he talks about you a lot when I came to visit." I laughed as Matt squirmed under his baby sister's gaze. Everyone looked on amused. "Hopefully good things." "Not always." Matt's look at me clearly shouted Traitor! I shrugged as I felt someone's gaze land on me.

I had gone to get a drink as they all talked, when a voice spoke beside me, making me jump. "Hi." I whirled around to see Nathan leaning on the counter-top. "Jesus H.Christ! Are you trying to give me a heart attack?" He chuckled at my reaction as I closed the fridge door with a Coke in my hand. Damn, he sounded sexy. If Hannah turned out to be right with her prediction of my future, I'm pretty sure aliens exist too.

His blue eyes stared into mine. Holy crap...I think I forgot how to breathe. Luckily, Jay walked in at that minute and got a Smirnoff Ice, glaring at Nathan.

"If you're gonna take that, I can have one too." "No way." "Jay, we both just turned seventeen. You'd be in as much trouble as me." Jay sighed and threw me one. I smiled and turned to Nathan. "Want one?" I held up the ice-cold can. He shook his head and his gaze slipped down to my wrist, looking at my bracelet. "Where did you get that?" Jay was looking at it too, surprise and suspicion evident in his expression. "I found it." I replied cautiously. It seemed like they didn't like it for some reason.

They both still stared at me. 'Well, " I spoke up first. "I'm just gonna go. You two might need some catching up.

I walked out of the kitchen and back to my room, making sure to shut the door behind me. I didn't want anyone barging in on me.

I took the box from the closet, where I had put it after I had finished tidying up. I sat on the window-seat under one of the windows in my room, looking out into the silver-grey-looking forest. The moon was full and the stars dotted the dark sky.

I took the first book out carefully. It looked old and delicate, I didn't want it to tear.

I opened to the first page, tracing her name with my index finger.

Time to find out who Alicia Grey was.

Bridgewood, England
15th October 1972

Today was an interesting day. Father told me who I was, what I was. A halfling, half demon and half Nighthunter. He gave me the Alexis Cooper diaries, in hope that I will learn from her mistakes. I do not think trying to save the one you love should be considered a mistake.
He told me the marks of a halfling: darkened part of the skin in the shape of a triangle and light-blue eyes with a brown dash in the middle, all of which I, along with my two brothers, possess. Samuel and David have known for a long time, which fueled my short temper.
Our mother isn't our mother, she's our stepmother. Our real mother was killed by a nighthunter when we were two years of age. Father spoke quite fondly of her. He told me her name was Diane and she had my name picked out before we were even conceived. A photograph of her was given to me as a present. Her black hair matched mine, both my brothers inherited thier brown hair from our father. She had a necklace, which was also given to me.
I am expected to train with my brothers as I now know what we are. I hardly think it is fair, even though we are triplets, they still have been fighting longer than me.
It is now night and father said the lights must go out. Goodnight.
~Alicia Cooper.

I closed the old diary, glancing out into the night. Is it just a coincidence that these dairies, that I found in Australia, are based here?

I'm sure it is.

I got ready for bed, my mind racing. All the marks of a 'halfling' as Alicia called them, appeared on me. Then again, this is just fiction. It can't be real, can it?

My mind was still racing as I drifted off to sleep.
