So we've already established how cold the room is that I was in, and we briefly went over how warm the room is that I'm currently in. But I don't think you, the reader, understand. It was hard for me to breathe, the difference in temperature was like going from an icy Winter Wonderland, straight into the depths of hell.
There was no AC oh, and I was in a 55 by 55 foot room with nearly 28 students, might I add all of high school age. It felt like I was in a sauna of hormones, sweat, and grime.
I had walked in about 10 minutes ago, and the teacher asked if I wanted to sit in the front of the class or the back of the class. Which was really surprising considering he was a math teacher for a freshman class, but I chose to sit in the back.
He let me.
Another surprise I know it's been, an exciting day...can't you just taste the sarcasm.
It's been a long and hard day and after school I go to my 3-hour job, working minimum wage is it fun, especially at 15. I am rambling let's get onto the actual story.
______________________________________
Not 15 minutes into class and we were already getting started on math, the phone rang and it almost felt as if a gust of that cold wind from the other class had come through the door. A name rang out through the phone, and then the teachers mouth. A salty almost sour name that when you heard it felt like nails on a chalkboard, for some reason I didn't know why that was the case.
I didn't make much note of it until that student walked in. Remember that boy from the first chapter something oddly strange about him, as if he himself were frozen to the Core? The student was told to pick a chair, of 2 left in the room, one of the choices was in the back of the room the one seat in front of me, and the other was in the front right hand side of the class near the door.
Figures the coldest man in the room would choose the seat in front of me.
Now I know what you're thinking, and no this doesn't turn into some regular Teenage hormone filled Wattpad story, no, I didn't want to be near him.
Something about him just set me off. Made me feel as if I had to run away and hide in a hole, a safe place. But I only had to make it through an hour and 15 minutes left of high school... and then all I would have to do was work a minimum wage job.
Eventually about 30 minutes past, and the teacher was passing out some papers giving them to the first student have each row and they would pass them back. As I was receiving my paper from Jeremy his cold hand crazed over mine just barely but it felt as though his hand and been covered in freezer burn, and Frozen in a solid block of ice. He then went on to tell me his name, as if nothing had just happened.
"Hey I saw you in my class earlier today, my names Jeremy," he said it light hearted, as if he had not a care in the world.
Where had the boy sitting in his place just gone? What happens to the person who seemed to make the temperature of a room go down by 10°?
My train of thought was broken when he asked, "So what's your name?"
"Amile, but some people call me Vee for vampire because I look so pale." I stated with a smile, maybe this semester wouldn't be as bad as I though.
But I still couldn't breathe, it was just so damn hot. That aside though I got to talking with, Jer, as his friends called him. He turned out to be pretty cool for a sophomore and as it turned out, and the reason he was so cold was just because he had a low core temperature. Something he told me he needed to work on with exercise and eating more healthy. I still don't buy it.
Everything else seemed pretty cool though and the day was sort of calming down, I had made one acquaintance in one of my new classes, and I consider that a win.
But something was definitely amiss with Jeremy, something I just barely caught when he turned around was a slight glimmer in his eye. It seemed almost as if they had caught in the light and reflected in a way that not everyone else's had. And no that's not just me falling in love.
It was definitely something strange but I just threw it to the side he probably just had highlights in his eyes.
That was something I should have definitely paid more attention to.
