"What took you so long?" I asked in an annoyed tone to Kyle and Andy. Maths was the only lecture we had together. We often met up a couple minutes before outside the class."What made you come so early?" Andy smiled his sly smile.
"Early? The class is about to begin, dumbass!" I countered in an annoying tone as I entered the class, Kyle and Andy behind me.
Andy and I found adjacent seats while Kyle found the one behind mine.
"We think you're avoiding someone." Kyle whispered loud enough for us to hear.
"Avoiding who?" I turned innocently, trying to fake ignorance. How the fuçk did they find out?
Andy had his sly smile back again "We know what you did at Dylan's party, Darren," Andy mimicked a detective's voice before adding,"asshole."
"Yeah man, at least tell us about the ones you're done with so we wouldn't be wasting our time." Kyle said in a melodramatic voice, "I want to avoid irksome surprises in bed as much as possible..."
"Stop it man, you think I give a shit about your sex life?" I broke in, "The only reason I didn't discuss her with you was because it was bad, she was really bad."
"How bad?"
Great. Now both of them were even more interested. Fucking amazing.
I sighed resignedly as the teacher entered. I knew they wouldn't leave me alone until I'd told them everything. Honestly, they something reminded me of the chicks I so often slept with, tell me everything, Darren.
"Like a 2, Andy, now leave me alone."
"Not before I tell you who we have for a classmate in Maths."
As if on cue, in entered Alaricka Taylor.
The ground beneath my feet suddenly shook.
What the fuçk?!!!
"Sorry I'm late, Miss Patricia!" she said in a chirpy voice to the teacher.
"Find a seat, Miss Taylor" the teacher was in her mid forties but had a slim, well maintained figure and wild red hair.
Alaricka looked at the whole class before her gaze finally settled on... wait for it... me. Flashing a huge smile, she made her way to the empty chair before mine.
"Hi." her chirpy voice up by an octave, her smile so stretched she didn't seem to notice my dry, expressionless expression as she settled down.
Beside me, Kyle failed to suppress a giggle and Andy gave me a thumbs-up, exactly like one of those TV commercials.
Dickheads.
Pointing towards the teacher, I said in a voice loud enough for Andy to hear, "Next time, I'm gonna tell everyone you screwed her."
~~~~~~~~~
For the next forty-five minutes, all I did was feel extremely agitated by the girl sitting ahead of me. She was humming. She was happy.
And, she was in Maths. With me.
How come I hadn't noticed that before? How come I'd missed this one stupid detail? And how can someone be so bad at sex, you don't even want to be polite to them? But that was irrelevant then, reality being that I was simply screwed.
Fortunately, the Patricia threat had quieted Andy, but Kyle would still giggle behind me, until finally, Miss Patricia said,"Would you like to share the joke with the class, Mr. Landon?"
"Sorry, Ma'am." he gave her his best innocent-boy look and she continued with the lecture. The rest of the class passed in peace, if me being a nervous wreck could be included in the definition.
As soon as the class was over, I made for the door as quickly as I could. She, however, was as fast as me and caught up just outside the class.
"Hey, Darren, I've been meaning to ask you this," her tone was now more mellow, she had picked up on the hesitant vibe I was giving, "Where do you mean to take this thing that we have?"
They said confidence comes mainly through experience. Thank God for experience.
"What thing? I said with an expression as innocent and concerned at the same time that I could make.
"I'm talking about what happened the other night." I could practically taste the growing panic in her voice and felt slightly sorry for the poor girl. The numerous times I'd done this did not make it any easier. Not sorry enough, though."If you're talking about something that happened a week ago, I don't think it could be considered something serious at all."
"Why not, Foster?" now she seemed actually angry,"I thought you liked me."women.
"Okay, let me get one thing straight, we were both drunk that night. It was a mistake, that's all."
For a moment she froze as the words sunk in. Hysteria in three... two... one...
"A mistake? A mistake? Why you perverted lying bas.." the sound of the slap against my left cheek made the last word unclear.
"I think that's all," Andy stepped in, "You can leave now."
But she just stood there, staring at me with her shiny eyes which were brimming up with tears.
"You used me, Darren." her voice was cracking.
"I don't think so," Kyle seemed pissed, "Last time I checked you were the one that got your ass drunk and had consensual sex with him."
"You stay out of this." she snapped at him.
"There's no this, slut."
Her head whipped up at me at this, her eyes searching something in mine. I returned her gaze as impassively as I could. Obviously finding nothing, she turned and and ran off.
"We should probably be heading for the next class," Kyle said carefully, earning him a shove from Andy.
"You okay, dude?" he slung an arm over my shoulder.
"Andy, it's okay. I think I'll be okay after some chocolate ice-cream." I said in a girly voice, and the worry lines on their faces disappeared.
"Let it go, dude, bitches mean drama." Kyle finally joined in.
"Yeah? You sound like a homo and Princess Frozen at the same time now." and earned a punch on the arm.
"Ow."
