FLORENCE HAS A LIST. Every school year she arranges a list of her goals for the year ━━ she's more than aware that she's most likely not going to complete any of them but, she tries. They usually look something like this:

                  1. Start actually passing Potions and get Snape to at least tolerate me.
                  2. Yoga ━━ or swimming. (Heard that they're good for the soul.)
                  3. Figure out how Weasel and Glasses are always able to sneak around the school.
                  4. STOP! little Weasel from confessing her very obvious infatuation with me to half the school before I graduate ━━ (Must stop at all costs!!!!)

And as predicted, none of them work. Well yoga does ━━ it is, in fact, very theraputic. The rest? No chance in hell. First of all Snape, for whatever reason, hates her almost as much as he seems to hate a shower. Her added lack of talent in Potions caused for extra friction between herself and her head of house.

Secondly, since first year, Florence has had an abnormal interest in just how the school's resident pack of monkeys (ie: Potter, Weasel and Granger) are able to sneak around the school like world trained ninjas. If she could find out how they were doing it, sneaking off school grounds to get more than dodgy items would be much easier. The only thing causing this to be on her designated list each year was the fact that she couldn't stand being in the same area as them ━━ let alone talking to them. This mainly applies to Weasel and Granger since, surprisingly, Potter is the most tolerable out of the trio. This point also unfortunately links to point four.

Ginny Weasley is a pain in Florence's self-proclaimed 'very nice' arse.

Since third year and the dilemma that was Sirius Black escaping Azkaban, Florence actually took note of the fact that a little Weasley even existed. Due to her dislike for her brother, Florence wanted to distance herself as much as possible from her in hopes of not having to deal with another irritant. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, the redhead seemed to have made it her mission to stick to Florence like glue ━━ much to the char-gin of the older girl. As the years progressed, so did little Weasley's infatuation with the Slytherin. Now the thing about Florence is that ━━ she's not out. She's proud and if people ask she'll gladly tell them however that didn't mean she wanted it to be public general knowledge. The thought of that happened often sends a jolt of fear through her veins ━━ an emotions she does not want to feel.

She also doesn't want to deal with the annoyance that little Weasley's brothers will cause her if they were to ever find out about the feelings their sister felt for her. She had no doubt that they would hunt her down and hex her until she left her alone ━━ for the pure reason that she was a Slytherin despite it being the Gryffindor causing the interactions.

So overall, Florence's goals had been shot down each year ━━ which kind of sucked. But it's okay, because this year ━━ her fifth year ━━ is going to be different. She'll be turning sixteen and that's a big deal in Florence's eyes and you can bet that she is not going to let a five-foot three, redheaded Gryffindor chaser ruin this year for her. Nor is she going to let the three flying monkeys' secrets slip through her grasp again ━━ not this year.

To say that sitting in the Great Hall and listening to Dumbledore drone on about the dangers that lingered around the school grounds was boring, would be a very large understatement. Florence's blue eyes bore into the dark spruce wood of the table as she had no choice but to listen to Millicent Bulstrode's cackling laughter as she was making fun of a first years haircut ━━ Merlin, all she wanted to do was sleep. Her pre-school high was just wearing off and Florence could feel herself becoming more lethargic by the minute.

This didn't however, bar her from feeling someone's gaze on the back of her head. No doubt a Gryffindor since she doesn't regularly associate with any Hufflepuffs, not since Cedric at least. She felt herself roll her eyes in slight annoyance ━━ she was too tired to be dealing with some moronic rambling from a person donned in red and gold.

She was too tired in general.

"He hem," Florence felt her eyes snap back up towards the row of teachers at the front of the hall, once lazy eyes, widening as she looked at who stood at the front of the hall.

She felt herself grimace at the wave of pink that invaded her vision. A short, robust woman with curling mousy grey hair stood in place of Dumbledore ━━ Florence felt queasy just looking at her. Judging by the shocked silence suffocating the rest of the students, they were having similar reactions to her. This was almost as awkward as when Potter's name was drawn from the goblet last year.

"Thank you, headmaster, for those kind words of welcome. And how lovely to see all your bright, happy faces smiling up at me. I'm sure we're all going to be very good friends."

Florence's wide, incredulous eyes searched to find her best friend's equally as wide eyes over at the Ravenclaw table. This woman was full of shit and it's not like Florence was really planning on living past the age of twenty-one, so ditching her lessons shouldn't cause her much of an issue ━━ but fuck did she hope that she wouldn't have to interact with her all that much. It wasn't the fact that she interrupted Dumbledore ━━ she could care less about that fact, the old geezer was as boring as a log. But it was the fact that this woman, there was something wrong about the way she held herself ━━ it was almost threatening. But Florence willed herself to not care. It's not her problem, Potter and the knights of Gryffindor will no doubt make it theirs so she should just completely ignore it. Nothing was going to ruin the year that she turns sixteen.

After tuning out the shrill squeak of the pink toad's voice, Florence retired to her dorm, narrowly avoiding a run in with little Weasley. All she wanted to do was sleep until she could repeat the cycle of getting high all over again.

So she did.

i love this chapter A LOT and am in love with this more sassy and nonchalant version of florence, of course the darkness and bad thoughts are still there but flo is in denial about a lot of things, including the fact that she has problems further than just passing potions. anyway i hope you all liked this chapter !! remember to vote && comment <33
