“WHAT! He’s in your math class! And you sit right in front of him?!” Kame shouted. “It’s fate Hina-chan! Fate!” Kame started to spin me around until I stopped her by digging my heels into the dirt. “Kame-chan! I don’t think he remembers me. We didn’t even talk!”
“Ah, yes. But you took his picture and still have it as your background. That means the gods have smiled upon you and are making you two a love match! Ah! This is beautiful!” Kame started spinning until she bumped into someone. Someone tall. “Oh! I-I’m sorry!” Kame stuttered out. We looked at the tall boy in awe. He had mossy green hair, pale skin, glasses and a neutral look on his face. As I looked at his hands I noticed that the left one was taped and that he was holding a small stuffed frog. “I am sorry as well. I didn’t mean to bump into you.”
“Hmm, judging by the little frog in your hand, I’d guess you listen Oha Asa too!” The green haired boy looked shocked but Kame just smiled. “My name is Masako Kame. It’s nice to meet you.” The boy adjusted his glasses. “I’m Midorima Shintarō.” Kame gasped. “You mean the Midorima Shintarō! The shooting guard for Shūtoko high school! You were apart of the Generation of Miracles!” Kame clapped her hands together with a huge grin on her face. She was acting so childish for someone two years older than me. Kame started middle school two years late because she didn’t have an awesome friend like me to help her in her entrance exams(I’m how she go into high school).
“Oh, in last game of the last year in middle school, how you made that buzzer beater and almost doubled the other teams score was so cool!” As Kame kept fawning over Midorima, I was tapped on the shoulder. When I turned I saw Momoi. “Hey Hinata.” She greeted. “I have to go to my afterschool thing now, so if you wanna come you're more than welcome to.” I looked back at Kame chatting away, and then shook my head yes and followed the pink haired girl.
“Here we are!” My mouth fell open. We were in front of the gym door and I could feel my heart pounding. “Something wrong?” Momoi asked. I shook my head no and we entered the building. The boys were doing some practice drills when we walked in. “Alright boys!” Momoi yelled, getting all their attention. “I would like to introduce you to Hinata,” Momoi smiled. “And she’ll be my assistant for the remainder of our time here at this school.” WHAT?! I nearly fainted when I heared this.
All the boys rushed over to greet me, well almost all of them. Daiki just hung back and seemed to glare at the boys surrounding me. “W-well, it’s nice to meet all of you.” I blushed. I’m still not used to being around boys yet. “U-um, what do I do now?” I asked Momoi. “Just sit down for now. Boys! Back to your drills! And leave poor Hinata alone!”
I sat on the bench in awe of these boys. But mostly Daiki. He was even better than the last time I saw him, but there was still no smile on his face. What happened that he couldn’t smile anymore? I was thinking mostly about this as I sat there, that is until Momoi started shaking me. “Practice is over. So just wait for me to get my stuff and we can go to your house and get that project done.” I smiled and stood. I was about to grab my bag when I noticed a lone basketball on the court.
I picked it up, looked around, and smiled as I started to dribble the ball. “There’s only 5 seconds left! Can Hinata make this last chance shot?!” I jumped up and shot the ball at the net, but what i noticed was that instead of just making a normal shot, I’d just slammed dunked the ball! Well I mean, I touched the rim as it went into the net. That’s a somewhat dunk, right? I mean, for being 172 centimeters that was a pretty good shot.
I stared down at my legs in surprise. How did I do that? Before I could try another shot I heard Momoi yell, “Okay! I’m ready to go!”
