Knowing he wasn't going to live for much longer, Owen decided he needed to get something for his beloved son to have after he is gone. So one afternoon Owen accompanied by his mother had went to the city mall to scour all the toy stores for something special that will last a long time for his Ollie to love and hold onto.

Owen searched thoroughly through many stores before he had finally found something he thought adequate for the baby. In the fifth store he found a soft black teddy bear with a shiny black nose, sparkling blue marble eyes, and green plaid lined ears. The bear was of durable quality but soft enough for Ollie to cuddle. Owen had paid the $15 dollars for the special bear.

Later that night Olivia had found the bear o the highest shelf in their shared closet. She wondered what the bear was for so she had asked Owen. "Hey Owen what is this bear in the closet for?"She had asked him curiously after placing 3 month old Ollie in his bassinet that night. "I want Ollie to have something from me when I die." Owen answers her, tears dripping down his sullen face.Olivia looked at him trying not to cry. "When are you going to give it to him?" she asked."Actually,  I want you to give it to him along with a letter that I write, when you think he is old enough, after I am gone. Maybe give him the bear and save the letter for an age you think he will fully understand?" Owen answers her trying to hold back his sobs of despair."Of course." Olivia promised him and reached her arms around his broad shoulders to console him. They sit on the bed holding each other, using one another for the comfort they need.

A few months passed before Owen peacefully died during the night. Ollie was only eight months old at the time of his fathers death. The letter was tucked into the teddy bear's arms on the top shelf of Olivia's closet and lying next to it is a locket of rose gold that opens to a picture of the young family weeks after Ollie's birth. Owen's arms cradling the new baby, while Olivia's arm is wrapped around Owen's waist. This locket was the gift Owen had left for young Olivia to hold onto after his death. Olivia is was eighteen year old single mother to an eight month old child, she had no idea what to do with herself.
