This story is also known by a very interesting sentence that says, "An invisible red string connects those who are destined to meet. Regardless of time, place, or circumstances. The yarn can stretch, or contract, but it can never break. The interesting thing about this legend is that no matter what path we take in our lives, we are always destined to meet a certain person."
Soulmates. What a beautiful word. Everyone has one, no matter the person. The whole soulmate fiasco started strange, abnormal, supernatural. But soon carved itself into society, as every child around the age of 14 would one day wake up with a blood-red string attached to their pinky. Invisible to everyone but them, until they kiss their soulmate that is. Then, it would become visible to everyone.
However, not everybody wanted a soulmate. The only way this eternal bond could be broken was if somebody cut the string. If one cut it, it would disappear from the both of them. And they would not be able to find love again. It was quite sad.
Izuku Midoriya, 15 years old, a Freshmen in high school, had discovered his red string last year. His two friends, Uraraka and Iida, found their soulmates quicker than most people in the world. Each other. Her and Iida were soulmates, and Izuku was happy for them, very, but he did constantly feel like the third wheel.
It was currently lunchtime, Uraraka and Iida laughing away as they talked, Izuku feeling weirdly more uncomfortable today than most days. He was a quiet person in general, but today most of all. Just watching them so happy to have each other, made Izuku feel so lonely. It was said that the string could transfer emotions, and make one feel what the other felt. The only thing was, you wouldn't know who was the one feeling it. The average age that people find their soulmates is usually their early or late 20's. Finding them before is rare.
Izuku wished he knew his soulmate. He looked down at his hand, examining the red string longingly. The thing was, you would know your soulmate if they were in front of you, your strings would be connected. The other end of Izuku's string never seemed to get closer, only farther. His soulmate was for sure fairly far away.

Katsuki stared at his string, ignoring the teacher as he spoke. Katsuki twiddled with it between his fingers. Fun fact, Katsuki is a very impatient person. He gets irritated and annoyed easily, he snaps and yells at every little thing. But when it came to his unknown soulmate, his friends would notice him become very soft, vulnerable, sad, but his voice filled with kindness and love.
Even if he was impatient with everything, when it came to his soulmate, he would wait for centuries. He's been a jerk since elementary. He bullied kids, hurt kids, and never had any real friends. It's been a year since he got his string, and he was already so attached to this mystery person. Boy, girl, trans, neither, he didn't care. He just loved the thought that he might be able to restart, have someone love him for him.
You might be thinking, "What if his soulmate is selfish and hates him?" Well, that doesn't happen. Soulmates, while being born into society, like a dating site, but anonymous, are chosen and will gain their strings around the age of 14. There has been no evidence of a soulmate ever hating another. Yes, arguments would happen, but they would always forgive each other in the end.
If one soulmate is going through a hard time, there's a possibility they would decide to cut the string. It's tragic, and this event has occurred before, the two soulmates' bond was broken and they did not find love again.
Katsuki hoped that would never happen. He hoped he would find his soulmate, they would get married, move in together, have kids, live a normal, calm, and modern life. He did have friends now, and he was grateful. Even if he didn't show it. They treated him as a normal human being, and he appreciated that. Sure, they're a bunch of idiots, but who cares, he loves them.
They called themselves the 'Bakusquad'. He did not take part in the name, they came up with it themselves. There was Kaminari, the stupid one who has no filter and never gives anything a second thought, but he's the comic relief of the group. There's Kirishima, the rational and sensible one who still does stupid things. There's Sero, he pranks everybody constantly, laughs at stupid things but doesn't really do any stupid things. And Ashido, she's one of the homies. Just put everyone in the group together and you have Ashido, all of the above.
Class ended, Katsuki and the Bakusquad heading home, everybody doing weird dances along the way. Katsuki was weirdly quiet today, and everybody noticed. He didn't snap or yell at anybody today, very unusual. Nobody questioned it.
They arrived at Katsuki's house, the group wished their goodbye's, since Katsuki's house is the first stop. Katsuki did not reply, he simply walked up to his house and entered. He did not answer his mother either as she said hello. He threw his book bag onto his bed and sat down. He sighed. The more he looked at his string, the more his anticipation grew. He's tried to follow his string, but it seemed so far away. Maybe, he just had to wait.
It was fate, they had to run into each other eventually.
