XXII: Coming Out

A week after Rose and Scorpius got back together, everyone had figured out that they were back together. But only a week later, when they made a pact to stay together until Christmas, did they decide that they were going to come out and tell everybody.

So, one evening, Rose gathered her books and parchment and quills and, pecking Scorpius on the lips, left their common room and went to the Gryffindor common room to tell everyone.

Arriving at the Gryffindor common room, Rose waited for a Gryffindor to arrive to open the door. Roxanne came and said, "Rose! Hi! What a pleasant surprise!"

"Thank you, Roxy. I'm here to help Lily with her OWLs. They're such a pain in the arse, aren't they?"

"They really are. Lily should be so grateful. Come on, I'll let you in. Doxy." Roxanne said and the portrait of the Fat Lady swung aside to reveal the hole to climb through. They did and entered the common room. Rose smiled as she took it in: It was as homely as ever with the armchairs near the fire, the beanbags scattered around, parchment covering the table and a few quills on the floor beside the table. Lily Potter was sitting at the table and was busily scribbling down notes from her Charms textbook. Rose smiled at the sight of Lily working and said, "Lily?"

"Rose! Hi! What brings you to these mundane parts of the castle?" 

"I was just coming to see if you needed any help with OWL prep. Clearly you've got it all handled. Are Al and Fred here?" 

"Um yeah. They're right upstairs. Alice is with them, in their dorm." 

"Oh. Roxy, could you be a dear and call them downstairs? I really need to talk to all of you about something." 

"Alright." Roxy said, with a reluctant sigh. She then went upstairs and returned with Alice, Albus and Fred a few minutes later. Rose smiled at them warmly and said, "I need to tell you guys something. Wait, is Hugo here?" 

"No, but I'm pretty sure that Hugo already knows what you're going to tell us." Fred said. 

"How would he? Even you don't know what I'm going to tell you. I mean—-" 

"You could be back together with Malfoy?" Lily said, with a mock gasp. 

"Or maybe you're just friends... with benefits!" Alice exclaimed, imitating Lily's mock gasp. 

"Or maybe you're just making out all over school for the heck of it." Fred said with a deadpan face and voice. 

"Honestly, Rose. We thought you were better than that." Albus said, shaking his head in mock disapproval. Rose was stunned and slightly agape as they all stated this. She knew that Scorpius and her weren't the most subtle of couples but she also knew that they had tried to keep it a secret. Were they trying so hard that they gave it away? 

"No, Rose. You just tended to be together alone a lot. Just the two of you. And you weren't even attending to duties. You were just sitting and talking." Lily said and Rose realized that she had said that out loud.

"Well it's nice for us to just sit and talk—-"

"And make out." Hugo said, climbing through the portrait hole and entering the room. Rose blushed a deep red and said, "Hugo! Hi!"

"Hello, sister. You were talking about Scorpius Malfoy I presume?"

"You presume correctly." Fred answered for Rose who opened and closed her mouth several times. Finally she said, "How...did you know?"
