I dropped my bag at my door and jumped onto my bed, opening my laptop. Justin should be home by now, given the fact that it was almost time for our daily video calls. I logged onto Skype, waiting for his call. I reached down into my bag and pulled out my homework, putting it onto my bed before getting up and walking to my dresser, pulling out some orange sweat pants and a white t-shirt. I quickly changed and tossed my dirty clothes into the washing basket.
I plopped back onto my bed and pulled my hair into a messy bun and looked at my laptop. Justin still hadn't called. My heart sunk a little, I was actually looking forward to seeing his face, hearing his voice, his laugh. He always seemed to make me smile without even trying and in the whole year id known him, we'd become very close friends. Best friends even.
School wasnt total crap but it dragged and I needed something - more like someone - to make me smile. Sighing, I began closing my laptop but it suddenly lit up, I quickly opened it again and saw Justin was calling me. My heart began racing in my chest, a huge smile spreadig across my face. I quickly answered and Justin appeared on my screen.
"Hey." I said, my smile widening. He smiled his breath taking smile. "Hey, you look beautiful like always." He complimented, I blushed and laughed. "In sweats and a t-shirt? Yeah, okay, Justin." I said, laughing. He chuckled, his mocha eyes were soft. "I'm serious, Kayla. You look beautiful." He told me again, I blushed and looked down, wishing I had left my hair down so my hair would hide my burning cheeks. "Aw, how cute!" Justin cooed, I rolled my eyes. "Shut up." I muttered. I looked over at my homework and then back to Justin. "How was..work?" I asked him, making air quotations around the word 'work', Justin would always get offended if I said he didn't know real work until he went to regular high school. "Hey! This is work! I have to get up very early every morning!" Justin defended, I smirked. "So do I."
He rolled his eyes. "I have millions of people expecting the best of me." He mutttered defensivly. "I have my dad and teachers.." I said, he looked up and glared at me. "Whatever, I won that one." He told me, I laughed and nodded. "Are you still coming over?" He asked, forgetting the little argument from earlier. I smiled a bit and grabbed my homework, placing it on the screen. "Probably not." I said, frowning. Justin nodded. "Right, homework. What if I came to yours?" He asked, I smiled and nodded, my heart leaping at the thought of Justin coming over. He grinned. "Alright, i'm coming over now. I wanted to talk to you anyway." He said, my smile faltered a bit, what did I do? "I'll be at your window in 10." Justin said before disappearing from my screen. I shut my laptop and stared into space.
"You look like a mental person." My sister, Jennifer, said as she peered around my bedroom door. I rolled my eyes. "You look like a turd, now get out." I told her. She rolled her eyes and walked away, swearing under her breath at me. Normally, I would have argued with her but I had homework to do, I picked up my book and was about to start when there was a tap at my window. I jumped, letting out a small squeak, that hadn't been 10 minutes. I swung my legs off the bed and head to the window. This had better be Justin.. I thought to myself. I looked out my window and saw nothing, I frowned a little and looked down, still nothing. I opened my window. "Justin?" I called out, there was rustling and my heart rate increased. I stuck my head out the window, looking out. "What the hell --" I muttered to myself. "BOO!" Someone shouted, I jumped and hit my head against the window, causing me to squeal and try to grab hold of my head, instead, I fell out the window and onto someone. "Dammit!" They swore, their voice muffled by the dirt on their face. I looked down and saw Justin and laughed. "Karma bit you right in the ass." I told him, he rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, whatever. Get off me." He told me, pushing me up a bit, I giggled and stood up. I dusted myself off and he did the same, also shaking grass out of his hair. "God, I think you threw my back out." He muttered, I laughed. "Whatever, I know i'm heavy but there is no way i'm that heavy." Justin laughed and took my hand, sending tingles down my spine. "Come on, I wanna show you something." He said, leading me towards his car, I frowned. "Uh, Justin, I need shoes." I pointed out, he laughed. "I've still got some of your shoes in my car." He told me, I nodded and got in.
"Justin, where are -" I started. "Uh! No questions." Justin told me, I sighed and looked back out the window. We had been driving a good hour now and we were still on the highway. I wondered if Justin knew about the piles of homework on my bed, still not finished. "Justin..are we even close? Unlike you, some people have homework to do." I told him, he gave me a look. "We're almost there and once we get back i'll help you with your homework." He told me, I scoffed and looked back out the window. When the car finally stopped, I frowned. We were at the entrance to the woods. I turned to Justin. "The woods? Are you fucking kidding me?" I asked, praying he would laugh and say of course but he didn't. He chuckled and got out the car. "Come on." He told me, I rolled my eyes and got out, meeting Justin at the front of the car. "Justin, i'm tired and I have loads of homework to do." I told him, exhaustion taking over as I crossed my arms. "Why are we here?" I asked, he smiled a little. "Do you seriously not remember this place?" He asked me, I shook my head, confused to what he was getting at. Justin sighed, still smiling. His smile hadn't left his face since we had left my house. Justin took my hand and pulled me over to a tree and moved some leaves out of the way, it had something written on it, I leaned in closer. "Justin and Kayla created swag. Never forget." It said, I laughed. "Oh my god, I remember this." I admitted, Justin laughed.
"I thought you would." He said, smiling. "Didn't you ask me out that night?" I asked him, vivid memories from that night flooding back to me, Justin nodded. "I think I did." He answered, I laughed. "You asked me to be your shawty." I reminded him, he laughed. "You say it like its a bad thing!" He said, winking. I laughed. "God, you were such a cutie." I told him, he smiled. "What about now?" He asked, this moment had suddenly turned serious and I stopped laughing. "You're..not the same 15 year old anymore?" I said, he chuckled. "What am I now then?" He asked, stepping closer to me, putting his fingers under my chin and making me look at him. I bit down on my lip, hard. He smiled. "Well, I know what you are. You're beautiful, funny, amazing, head strong, down to earth, kind hearted..to be honest, you're a blessing." He told me, my heart was doing flips inside my chest. "When I asked you out the first time, I was joking. Now? Not so much." He told me.
"Kayla Styles.." A huge grin spread across his face. "Wanna Be My Shawty?"
