"BANG! BOOM!"

I woke up to the crashing of thunders. I hate thunders. It scares me. It reminds me of what I did the last time.

"BOOOM!

I shuddered at the sound. I grabbed all my pillows and my blanket and covered my ear. My heart was about to beat out of my chest soon. I don't know how I'm going to survive this night. Memories flash back, causing the heartbreak and regret in the past to pour out of my heart. A lightning striked across the sky and this time, the thunder what piercing loud it made my heart jump. I screamed. More tears flowed out of my eyes unknowingly.

"H-Hailey?" I heard a muffled voice since I was hiding under my blanket.

I didn't answer. I knew it was James so pretended to be asleep.

"Hailey I know you're awake" He walked towards me.

"So what if I'm awake? I'm going back to sleep"

" Why did you scream?"

" I-I didn't"

"Hailey..." He lifted my blanket cover slightly.

When he saw me crying, his eyes softened. Before I knew it, he was holding me in his arms while I cried aginst his chest.

"Why are you crying?" He asked softly

"It was my fault..." I sniffled " I caused that to happen..." I said as my chest tightened.

He stroked my back soothingly "what happened?"

"A few years ago... I was a loner. Everyone in school bullied me. Then this guy called Chase stood up for me. We started to hang out and soon fell deeply in love. He was perfect, every girl wanted him. But he chose me. He was always there for me, faithful to me. He never looked at other girls, only me. I felt special with him... But I still didn't trust him fully. I was afraid one day, he might leave me. Then one day.." tears sprung to my eyes as I recalled that day " It was raining heavily and I decided to test him. I went to the park and called him, telling him I was injured and needed help immediately. Indeed, he rushed over looking for me. When he saw me, he immediately rushed over. Then there was a very loud and deafening thunder. It was so loud it scared him slightly. This caused him to..." More tears flowed down " It caused him to lose his balance, slipping and knocking his head on a sharp rock... There was blood... everywhere.." I cried into his chest.

James did not say anything. He just held me in his arms as I slowly drifte off to sleep...

I woke up feeling warm and cozy. Ahhh~ wait... Why is there something moving behind me? I looked atmy waist and there was a hand placed around it. Then everything that happened the last night replayed in my head. I felt my heart constricted at the thought of Chase but I shook it off before I broked down again.

I got up quietly making sure not to wake James up. As I stared at James, my heart started to beat faster. He looked to innocent and peaceful. I blushed at what I was thinking and went to shower.

The shower felt so good I did not want to get out. But sadly, I had to. As I was about to put on my shirt, a tired looking James came in.

"AHHH GET OUT!" I screamed even though I was fully dressed except for my shirt.

"Whaa.." James stared at me confusedly and his eyes suddenly widened

"I- I'm sorry!" James immediately shut the door.

I quickly put my shirt on and went out. James was waiting for me to get out so he could use the bathroom. I blushed and walked past him, avoiding eye contact.

My heart was again beating fast. Why? Urgh I can't stand myself. I am not supposed to feel anything towards James. I need to control how I feel.
