Vincent awoke with a start, panic snapping him out of his peaceful slumber. He'd had a horrendous dream that he and Gabrielle took a plane to Transylvania to visit his estranged family. He sighed and wiped his heavy eyes, thanking God above it was only a dream. There was a knock at the door that pulled his attention back to the room around him. Before he could get up, there was a dip on the other side of the bed as Gabrielle stood up to open the door. He opened his eyes as he heard the woman on the other side of the door speak.

"Good morning, Miss Gabrielle," he heard. At the same time, his eyes scanned his surroundings, taking in the splendid room. The wooden bed posts reached upward the ceiling, where a beautiful chandelier hung. "His and Her Majesty formally invite you and His Highness to join them for breakfast in the grand dining chamber. The meal is set to be served at 9 o'clock sharp. I hope you two have slept well."

Oh, fuck! It wasn't a dream after all!

Gabrielle was about to reply to the lady when she heard Vincent groan from the bed. "Fuck me!" he cried out, his voice shaky. Quickly, both women glanced back at him, still in the bed, hands covering his face. Turning back to the woman, Gabrielle forced a smile.

"Thank you for letting us know. We will be there on time."

The lady nodded before turning to walk down the hall and Gabrielle closed the door.

How was this real life right now? It was impossible! He wasn't awake! Sitting up, he remembered the disaster that was the night before. The continuous glares from his father, the incessant chattering from his mother, the grating whining from his brother, and the infuriating jeering from his dickhead of a cousin all nearly drove him to heavy drinking. He'd nearly cracked, but luckily Gabrielle sensed that he needed to be excused for the rest of the night. She'd insisted that they were jet lagged and needed to be shown to their rooms as quickly as possible so they could turn in for the night. It was when he had crawled into bed and was on the very crux of sleep and wake when he swore to himself that he would awake in his own bed or on some sunny isle somewhere in the middle of the ocean. He'd convinced himself that all of this was just a nightmare!

But it wasn't! How did he let this happen?

"Vincent, what was that?"

"I thought it was just a horrid dream," she heard him say beneath his hands that were now covering his face.

Gabrielle frowned at him. "Nope, we're actually here. This is real life right now. You were restless in your sleep last night..."

Before anything else could be said, there was another knock at the door. Gabrielle opened it to reveal Andrei standing there with a charming smile and a relaxed stance, leaning against the doorway. "Good morning to all. Hoping your sleep was as great as mine."

"Good morning, Andrei," she replied courteously.

Peeping inside, Andrei noted his cousin, who had finally sat up, glowering miserably at him. "Ohh, Vince. Rough night, old boy?" He took in the other man's disheveled form, his usually sleek hair a frizzy mess. "You're looking pale as ever." Switching his attention back to the lady in front of him, his smile reappeared. "But you, Gabrielle. You are as beautiful as the sunrise over the mountains."

"Thanks," Gabrielle replied curtly. She was about to ask him to leave but she felt herself being nudged aside before the door was slam shut in Andrei's face. That was when she realized that Vincent had got up from the bed and stomped over to dismiss the man. She smiled up at him, meeting his irritated gaze. "Well that wasn't very nice."

"Neither is that bastard, Andrei." He leaned down to deliver a languid kiss on Gabrielle's lips. "If he tries to hit on you again," he muttered against her mouth between kisses, "I will kill him."
