As I look into those dark and lifeless eyes
All I see is hate
Not for the people around
But hate for who the eyes belong to
They think life is a punishment
And death is a gift
I look deeper into those black eyes
I see a girl trapped behind a glass wall
Begging for help to be set free
She's screaming, pounding against the glass
Crying endlessly
And as I see her crumble to the ground
Given up on hope
Her eyes rimmed red from tears
I see her eyes flicker
From their beautiful green ones
To completely black ones, her tears gone
Just flickering back and forth between the two
And finally, they land on the black ones
Her crumbled figure stands up
And looks me in the eye
She screams, tears resurfacing and falling freely
Her eyes start to crack
Like glass
Pieces falling out
She's back to pounding on the glass
She whispers
"You win."
Her form falls back to the ground
And the remains of her eyes fall out of their sockets
Like shattered glass
She then just lays unmoving in a heap on the ground
Her eye sockets hollow,
Black liquid dripping out like blood
I scream
The glass wall that was separating me and the girl broke
I fall to the floor
I realize that that was no glass
It was a mirror
And that girl
Was me
