Light drained through my pastel blue filters that hung over the square window that sat next to my bed. I strained my eyes and turned the other way, fighting and o stay asleep. Until it hit me.

"Wake up Summers!"
A soft voice echoed in my head, my eyes widened, though I didn't move to see where it was coming from.
"Go back to bed.."
A low chaotic sound ringed in my head, I immediately cupped my hands over my ears, but the mix of the two immediately took me out of my daze of sleep, so instinctively I just sat up and looked around. I couldn't see them, until I caught a glance at a red haze. I looked down at my shoulder.
Oh shit.
"Oh shit is right!" The red mini-me echoed. The little creature has a glowing crimson hollow, and her features included dark ripped jeans, bright red skin, straightened black hair, and a nirvana T-shirt, with dr martens to match.
Quirky.. I thought quickly.
"Hey! Don't call me that, I'm just unique!"
The ringing voice returned, I stared down at them when I heard a slight whimper coming from the other side. A sort of begging for the same attention I gave to small gremlin that sat on my right shoulder. I turned my head to see a beautiful version of myself. I stared down at her in disbelief, her black hair was worn neatly in curls, a sleek white dress draped so long it extended off my shoulder, and her eyes glowed a deep blue.
"I'm Summer." She looked up at me, smiling.
But I'm Summers..
"Summer. No second s silly!" She giggled, I laughed a little too.

"And I am, your devil, Mer."
I sighed, and took in the situation. A devil and an angel, and I thought it was all a folk tale..
But, Mer? How come she gets such a different name than the angel?
"I chose this name, thank you very much!" The angry gremlin of a devil yelled up to me, the angel, Summer, quickly coming to comfort her.
I began to ask them questions about how they work, and if there's anything I should and shouldn't do.
"Never take Devils side of things!"
"Never take Angels side of things!"
The angel and devil said in sync.
I nodded, confirming the idea that they had been rivals for the outcome of my choices.
I did know one thing though, just based on the way that Mer/Devil is acting, she's not like a devil at all. She's probably just one of those friends who hype you up to do what you wanna do and do it when you want to, not to wait on people.
Though, the angel is the classic goody two shoes, forgiving, honest, and wants to look out for my future. I rolled my eyes in annoyance.
"Oh!" The angel gasped.
I turned my head to signal her finishing her sentence.
"I forgot to tell you."
The devil looked over at the angel, with a face of anger.
"Don't."
"Your so-"
The angels mouth was met with the devils hand, telling her to stop talking. But with a hint of attitude, the angel smacked away her hands.
"Your soulmate is the only person who can see us! So you can see theirs too!"
She smiled.
"Soulmate?"
The angel nodded. I took a minute to take it in. So everyone has to have a soulmate, right? If they didn't what would they do with their angels and devils.

I turned my head when I heard quiet evil laughing coming from the angel. Next thing I knew, I was blinded, everything red and black.

I woke. My eyes straining. I looked back at my shoulders to see if they were still there.
There was the devil, and on the other shoulder was another? another red glow? That's not right.
It can't be right. There should be a white, bea-
my thoughts were cut off by the other mini red devil thing
"You seriously thought you had an angel AND a devil?! HAH sorry, you're stuck with us, bitch!"
Wait. Two devils? Two devils?! No. Why me? I've done nothing wrong.

"Neither have we!" The other devil chimed.
I sighed heavily, trying to take in the situation, again.
Okay. "What's your name then?"

"I'm still Mer." The first devil chirped.
"I'm not Summer, with no s. I'm your new best friend whose a devil, Melissa."
