CAMDEN SCOTT did not expect her first day of junior year to start the way it did. she had woken up early to have breakfast for once and even left early so she could go to starbucks and get a "first day jitters" drink. what she didn't want to do was see ricky bowen as she went to enter east high. so she tucked her head down as much as she could and quickened her pace just to pass the boy and his friend big red.

"i don't know if i need to start by fixing things with camden first or nini." she heard the boy say as she walked past. she cursed under her breath and tried to go even faster to avoid any confrontation. she truly thought she was home free when she got to her locker. key word being thought.

"hey cam." she turned to see an out of breath ricky bowen. she didn't even try to hide the distaste on her face. "ok what's that face for?"

"oh yes my bad. hi ricky haven't talked in like a year. what's up buddy! oh that's right you're making me a second choice. what did you and nini break up?" her words dripped in venom and it quite shocked the boy. she was always the nicest person to be around with her kind nature.

"second choice?" he suddenly got distracted as nini salazar-roberts walked up to go to her locker. "yo nini what's good."

"point proven." camden said. she slammed her locker shut and knocked into ricky's shoulder as she went to find ashlyn.

ashlyn caswell had been camden's best friend since sophomore after ricky cut her out. it was always refreshing and calming to hangout with the girl.

"wait so he just tried to talk as if nothing happened?" ashlyn asked.

"pretty much. i don't know i don't want to focus on him. i want to know if were having a musical this year or not." the blonde responded. the principal had called for an assembly shortly after camden left her locker so she was patiently sitting to hear the news on her musical theater.

"so did you hear about nini and ej?" ashlyn asked her friend. it all started making more sense about ricky.

"wait. did they start dating or something?" camden was truly surprised. from what she saw last year nini was completely smitten with ricky.

"they got together at theater camp apparently. i don't know too much about it."

"i am please to announce that seniors can now wear baseball caps on friday's. go seniors!" the principal told the school. "and now for a special introduction. this year we have a new drama teacher. she has an announcement that she swears won't cost too much money."

a woman walked to the podium followed by a student camden had known. the lady grabbed a shirt canon and shot it out into the audience. it went straight to camden. she started in her hands at the shirt.

"go wildcats! my name is ms. jenn, and when I heard that the high school where High School Musical was shot had never staged a production of High School Musical, the musical, I was shocked as an actress, inspired as a director, and triggered as a millennial." ms. jenn said to the microphone.

"did she just say millennial?" camden asked her best friend. ashlyn shrugged in response.

"auditions will be tomorrow after school. this show could change your lives, and I'm saying this as a background dancer from the original movie. third from the left, back row, red headband, and those are my real teeth." this teacher was odd, but camden was just so excited to audition for the musical. ms. jenn then pulled carlos up next to her. "oh and meet your student choreographer carlos, or as you all know him, the captain of the color guard. i know him as a rising unpaid star."
