The seventy two hour watch was finally over as Doctor Hurano handed over discharge papers.

"Your physical came back normal. But we have some slight concerns about your mental evaluation. We would like you to come in at least once a week to speak with the psychiatrist so we can monitor you properly. Anytime you happen to be available."

She gazed at her doctor incredulously.

"You have to. If you want to be cleared again for duty," Hurano explained.

She caved in to her doctor rather easily, much to Sakura's relief. She nodded in submission as Sakura shoved the release papers into her hands. Hinata was out of that claustrophobic room before Sakura could blink.

The cold rain drizzled down in a steady pace, soaking her within moments of standing in its aim. She allowed the drenching water to rivulet down her face in beads while she tilted her head back. Sakura watched with a perplexed look as the woman she had just discharged bask in the gloomy cold atmosphere outside of her own cold and death-filled safe haven.

Hinata traveled Konoha aimlessly in the shadowed emptied streets. No busy villagers or tourists cluttering the streets, the noise low except by the passing of Konoha's bars. The occasional shinobi passing by swiftly, patrolling the streets for any sort of trouble. Even in the cold rain it was calm and peaceful. She liked that.

She placed her key into the lock of her small apartment and stepped in to be greeted by a sweet smell and a soft light on in the kitchen. She unstrapped her sandals quickly, unnerved by the presence of another in her home. Gripping the katana over her shoulder as she prepared to meet the invader.

She let out a soft breath when her teammate sauntered into the corridor to meet her. She let her grip go on the katana as she was met face to face with the hallow expression with pits of black orbs.

"You shouldn't be here," she stated softly.

"Hn," was his quick and nonverbal response.

She moved around him and found the sweet scent that had tantalized her nose when she opened the door.

"Did you get these, Sasuke?" she inquired as she took a bite out of one of the soft and sweet iced baked good.

"No."

She looked at him curiously. He passed a note to her as she was halfway finished with the large delicacy. As it touched her finger tip she felt the wave of unease. She set the still warmed sweet down on the plate it had been set out on and flipped the card open.

"Sorry for the trouble I may have caused.

It had to look real, I was being watched.

Enjoy the apology gift.

                                              -Itachi "

Her fingers trembled as she stared down at the note. She bit back the terror and quickly composed herself. She looked up at Sasuke as she shoved the small card into her pocket. Sasuke only quirked a brow at her.

"I'm tired Sasuke. You should go home."

"It's been weeks, Hinata."

"I'm not in the mood tonight, maybe tomorrow night," she whispered as she turned away from him.

"Hn," his dark eye's softened considerably as he stared at the woman with a haunted expression plastered along her delicate and beautiful features.

He gave a pained sigh right before he transported out of her house, leaving a small trail of leaves in his wake. After several moments staring at the leaves on the floor, she sighed before she walked to her room. She began to undress as a large black bird dropped onto the railing of the balcony. She stared at it, a creeping sensation up her spine.

"You're quick to notice my presence."

"You shouldn't be here," she growled as she grabbed a kunai from her pouch.

He grabbed her wrist firmly, the action so quick she dropped her weapon.

"I didn't come for a fight, Tsuma," he emphasized the word for wife.

"Why are you here?" she hissed, tears brimming in her eyes as the flood of memories came over her.

"Why don't you want me to be? Honestly, Hinata, I'm a little disappointed. I expected you to see the truth."

Her eye's were glued to him as he strolled lazily through the room before he plopped down onto the bed. Her bed. That they used to share. He gave a soft chuckle as he noticed his stuff was still laid out or hung the way he had left them.

"You haven't gotten rid of my things?" he asked, a thin brow quirked at an angle.

"I haven't had the time to burn them," she growled.

"What is your relation to my brother?" he inquired softly, a lilt of hurt in his smooth voice.

"That is none of your concern, Otto," she growled mockingly, the word husband coming out menacingly.

He flashed a toothy grin, making her uncomfortable. He pushed himself up off the bed lazily, moving towards her as she backed herself against the wall. Hinata grimaced as his fingers brushed against her smooth jawline. He leaned in, his lips hovering just above hers.

"You are my wife," he growled.

"You left me," she whispered, her breathing hitched as her eyes slid nearly shut.

He looked into the small slates of pale violet. She almost glowed in this light and he could still see the faint blush dusting her cheeks. He kissed her gently, almost sweetly, and bitterly.

"End it with my brother," he murmured against her lips.

She grunted softly, her mind and body willing to do whatever he wanted her too. He smirked.

"I'll take that as a yes," he grunted before he slammed her body into the wall and pulling her legs up around his hips.

She gasped and came back to reality from the genjutsu and dropped the now blank paper, shakily she looked up to find herself in front of Sasuke again. He raised one perfectly arched brow quizzically. She looked over to see the cinnamon roll she had half eaten.

"N-nothing. There's nothing on this card," she whispered, answering his unsaid question.

He gripped her jacket, then attempted to pry it off. She grabbed his wrists.

"I don't want to tonight, Sasuke," she gritted out.

"It's been weeks, Hinata," he rasped, his voice husky as he nipped at the side of her neck.

"Not now Sasuke. I'm still exhausted," she pushed against his chest.

"Hn," he responded before he disappeared in a whirl of leaves.

She hesitated, looking at her bedroom door. Studying it for several minutes before she shook her head, feeling slightly crazy and paranoid. She reached her bedroom door and shoved it open, only to have feelings of disappointment to find it empty of the man who had cast that split second genjutsu.

She stripped off her outer layer of rain soaked clothing and collapsed onto her bed. She was exhausted, mentally. She didn't have the energy to shower or get on a set of night clothing. She laid in the mound of blankets for what seemed like an eternity until finally she fell asleep.
