Poem: 24 Hours

The skies and ocean become one
The pelting rain screams with hate
The ship rocks with ferocity
Not even a seabird
To watch its fate

Rivers and streams overflowing
Trees weeping from limb to limb
Creatures hidden, waiting it out
Exposure equals
An involuntary swim

The sidewalks mirroring the skies
On gray beleaguered streets
Pedestrians posing as martyrs
Office workers cheering
From window seats

A five acre construction site
Filling up with water
Carpenters fleeing the deluge
Further scheduling delay
Investor visages turning
Rouge

Two small sisters in their tiny bedroom
Hoping for sunshine to someday come
Hunkering down amidst their toys
Their Broadway play ready to
Shake, rattle and hum

I am in a rain-soaked park
Jogging around a muddy loop
Trees dripping all over me
This poetry flowing slam dunk
Into the universe's colossal hoop
