Last time

It's been a week. I left on the first day of my last year in this all consuming hell hole. I haven't talked to anyone.

Half an hour ago I decided to take a walk, seeing as Sam's class was in 'session'. I made my way past a few dorms and buildings before I decided I would just wait for him in front of his class.

Soon everyone was filing out of class, in a rush to get home. Eventually Sam came out. He glanced at me as I leaned back on the wall in my shorts and oversized t-shirt. He did a double take as his eyes met my dark ones.

"Addy!" He practically screamed as he raced the short distance to me with a gigantic smile on his face. When he reached me he lifted me up by the waist and hugged me tight.

My hands gently went around his neck while my legs wrapped around his waist. "Hi." I say softly.

A throat is cleared and my eyes snap up to the sound while Sam squeezes me tighter and doesn't lift his head from my shoulder. The boy I talked to before was standing there looking worried yet happy, in a way.

I rolled my eyes and averted my attention to Sam. "Addy, please." He said sadly, his voice muffled as he was pressed against me so tightly.

I reached for his head and I lifted it up in order for him to face me. I rubbed my thumbs along his sharp jaw as I studied his face.

He was worried about me.. I guess a week was too long. Longer than the last few.

I ran my hands through his hair, in order to move his longish hair out of his face. I rested my forehead against his as I started straight into his eyes. Mine softened in an apology. A small smile graced my lips so that he would smile and not look so sad anymore.

I kissed his dimpled cheek and loosened my legs, his grip tightened on my waist as he set me down gently. "I'm back, Sammy." I said soothingly.

"Adelaide. You promised to not disappear again. Do you not remember what happened last time?!" Sam looked tired, stressed even.

I reached for his hand, in order to give him some comfort and to find some of my own. Sam's hand was firm in mine and calmed me a little. Sadly not enough.

"This was different." His eyes only narrowed at this. Every one has left the building and it was just me, Sam, and that boy.

"Where did you go? Back home again? Some dark whole? Hell? Because last time that's where you went... Adelaide I swear to god if you ever do that again I.. I don't know what I'll do..." he broke off as his voice cracked. " I was so worried about you Addy."

"Neither you nor I can control what people do. We can only control what we do. Which also means you can't control me." I paused as his jaw clenched in frustration. "I know I promised I wouldn't leave again. But I think we both knew it was a matter of time. In the years you have known me I haven't stopped."

I looked up to see Sam's soft and warm eyes. I was so upset I could scream and cry at the same time! He saw this and without missing a beat he lifted me into his arms again. I wrapped my legs around his waist once more and buried my face into the crook of his neck as I silently let the tears fall.

Before I could drift into my depressing thoughts and memories, I heard a voice. "Hey." Sam stopped and turned, my back to the boy. I tightened my grip on Sam. "Are you guys okay?"

Sam's hand rubbed soothingly on my back as he sighed. "Yeah, I'm going to take her back to my place." He paused for a moment and moved to try and look at me asking a silent question. I didn't move and that was his answer. "Come on, you're coming too."

Asher didn't say anything back and when I got the nerve to look up slightly I saw he was walking behind Sam and I. His head was down in thought, he noticed my movement and looked up. Asher looked surprised but smiled at me nonetheless. I hated his smile, it was fake and in-genuine. This one was different though, it was nice.

I rested my head softly back into the crook of Sam's neck. My hand went to the back of his head as I ran my hand through his hair in an act to soothe us both.

Before I knew it I was asleep.
