Chapter 13
-Hunter Hayes-
What am I gonna do... I screwed up. I screwed up so bad. I wanted to cry, just bawl and bawl until I had no more salt water in me. The truth was that I wasn't interested in Riley, why would I be? I had made it clear to Sheila I like her! I was only with Riley because I was going to write her a song and I needed help! I spotted Riley's car pulling out of her driveway, and I started running after it.
"Riley!" I wailed. More than anything I just needed some advice, and somewhere to go. The car slowed to a stop, and I went over to her side. Riley rolled the window down.
"Hunter? What are you doing Sheila is going to wake up any-"
"She was already up." I let out a sob, Riley's eyes widened.
"What?"
"She saw me get out of your car. She thought I was che-cheating on her."
"Get in." she said instantly, opening the door on the other side. I went around the car and got in, she started driving. "Tell me everything."
-Sheila Allen-
I would call Hunter to ask him to comfort me, but unfortunately Hunter was the one who hurt me. And Riley, my second option, was also a person who hurt me. That basically left me with to one to turn to, except my mom.
"Sweetie you left your phone- Sheila?" she came over to my crying self on my bed, petting my head. "She whats wrong?"
"Hunter cheated on me." I whispered.
"What?! But he was such a nice boy..."
"I know, I saw him with Riley." I sniffed, my mom looked shocked.
"Riley?"
"Mhmm." I whimpered. "I don't even know why, he said he cares about me and then he just leaves me."
"Have you talked to Riley at all?"
"No... I-"
"Sheila. You need both sides of the story."
"But mom..."
"You and I both know you can't make assumptions without confronting them."
"Can I wait a bit?"
My mom raised her eyebrow. "Call Riley. I'll be out in the kitchen." she got up and left me alone, phone just beside me. I sighed, drying my eyes and picking it up, finding Riley in my contacts. I selected her and held it up to my ear. It rang a few times before I heard a muffled noise in the other end.
"Hello?" Riley asked.
"Hi Riley." I breathed. "Have you seen Hunter anywhere?" she paused.
"No, why?"
"Riley, I saw you with him this morning in my driveway."
Riley sighed. "Ok yes, but since then, no."
"Why... I thought you knew I liked him."
"I do know, She." she sighed. "It's just that he needed to talk, so he came to my place in the morning."
"What did he need?"
Riley paused. "I can't tell you."
"Why not?"
"I just... She you don't understand."
"You're right. I don't." without thinking I hung up, instantly regretting my action. I smacked my forehead, not daring to call back. What were Riley and Hunter up to?!
