The cage was a good size, no bars obstructed the contents as it was lined with thick glass, i entered the room a little hesitantly. Dracula was adorned in a sleek 21st century suit and sat playing with a tablet with his legs up on the table when i entered. He didn't seem to acknowledge my presence but i knew he sensed it.
Van helsing cleared her throat "count dracula you have a visitor"
"i know" he didn't look up from the tablet "i'm just finishing my chapter"
i rolled my eyes and step up to the box, "its impertinent not to receive a guest properly count" i state. he looked up with a wide and excited grin
"theres my lady clara" he threw the tablet down on the table and stepped infront of me to have a closer look "you said that fashion would render your beauty plain in a century" he looked over me, his eyes working their way up my body untill they landed on my face "how wrong you were"
I rolled my eyes at his flattery "Dr Van helsing would like to ascertain as to whether the connection still remains between us" i cut to the chase,
"you mean she wants to know if i am still your master" his grin broadened, "what after all of these years you still haven't worked it out?"
"worked what out?" i raised my brow, i felt van helsing step closer so not to miss anything
He chuckled but didn't answer my question as he took a seat again and put his legs up casually on the table once more "so what have you been doing all of this time, apart from going against my orders and not waiting for me in this quaint little seaside town?"
"i've kept myself busy" i answered vaguely. "the progress of the world has kept me quite distracted"
"i can see that" he commented "your a modern woman! though you were always ahead of your time when you were alive, craving independence and liberty from the role that society thrust upon you"
"i suppose i have you to thank for my liberation, though i don't doubt you'd see me enslaved again"
"enslaved? never! i would have you reaching your full potential, under my careful instruction of course" he picked the tablet up again and began to casually flick threw it in fascination, i had expected to have more of his attention but that i could understand his desire to learn more about the new world.
"so" van helsing interupted, "is the connection still present or not?"
dracula chuckled again and his eyes locked on to mine as he spoke "of course it is, the link that exists between servant and master is not easily severed, but it seems she has done a good job in muting it"
"muting it?" van helsing looks at me, i shrugged, i had no idea what he was talking about; though i admit i felt his awakening and sensed his presence strongly, i had not felt undying loyality to him in years. or any loyality for that matter.
"yes, she's gotten very good at fighting it, choosing her own will above mine. but give me sometime in her head and i'll sort that out" he winked at me "i did have so much fun putting myself in there last time, i'd do it again with pleasure"
Images flash across my mind as I recall the night when he claimed me, not the night I died but the night he came to my bed. I shivered, "and how was this connection established last time?" van helsing asked.
"ask Lady Clara, it was a night I'm sure she has not forgotten" he chimed, i felt a blush rise to my cheeks, I had been back near him for so little time yet already i was starting to feel helpless again, like i did when i was human and he manipulated every part of my life in order to destroy it for his own amusement. "but for science" he added "i will say there are many ways one can empower ones self in anothers mine, i chose the more pleasurable one for my little lady"
I hated the smug tone in his voice as he called me pet names like this. I hated how even though he was in a cage and I had the upper hand he made me feel small and unimportant. I resolved to change that. "open the sun roof" I instructed van helsing, she looked hesitant but Dracula's expression had changed as well, he looked wary. Here I had the upper hand, he did not know how different he and I where, so I would make that clear. Make my advantages known.
Van helsing pressed the button that opened the roof and dracula shot out of his seat into a safe corner where the sun could not hit, "let me in" I instructed next. He looked confused now as van helsing unlocked and opened the door, I stepped out of the shawdows and into the light before hin, he was in awe.
"this. is. unexpected." he examined me from the line where dark met light and then began to chuckle, "its brilliant!" he exclaimed "you really are my finest bride yet"
Now I had amused him I knew he'd be more likely to do as we wanted, he was a servant to his own emotions sometimes "now" I stated "Dr van helsing would like to see the bond at work, if you would so kind as to oblige her"
He mulled it over for a moment, "very well but you will regret it" he straightened himself up, "come over here" i did as instructed though I was hesitant. He locked his eyes on mine "my beautiful clara" his voice softened and I felt my mind begin to become mesmerised, "kiss me"
I didn't control my own actions as I stepped forward and planted a kiss on his lips, I felt his lips smile against mine in victory before I quickly and abruptly pulled away, "is that good enough dr" he looked over to the shocked looking doctor,
"I would prefer to be on the other side of the glass again" I looked at the van helsing with a silent plea
She silently nodded and I exited the cell. He followed the expanding shadow as the sun roof closed untill he was stood infront of me again "had I not seen the excitement in your eyes little one I should be worried about how easily you broke my trance, then again even as a human you were always good at pushing me out; just not when it really mattered"
"there was no excitement" I stated blandly "I felt nothing but disgust at being forced to kiss you"
My utterance only made him laugh "you are still good at lying to yourself lady clara" he said. "but you will not be lying to yourself for much longer"
I didn't know what he meant by this and I didn't want to find out. "you have seen what you wanted" I said to the dr "I dont see why I need to waist my time here anymore, i'm leaving, I maybe dead but I still have a life" I turned and walked to leave the room.
"i will be seeing you very soon!" he called after me with a laugh. I didnt look back.
