I have finished my shift and been standing in the cold for the last 20 minutes! I have been here that long that the team managers who finish after us are now closing the shop and leaving. I wish each of them a good evening as they pass. My manager asks as he is turning out the lights
'Hey, are you alright?'
Me- 'yeah, I am just waiting on my taxi. It should be here soon'
Him- 'Aw, Sure I will keep the lights on till it comes or it could think no-one is here.'
I thank him and we wave off the rest of the our colleagues. We chatter amongst ourselves and he gives me his coat when he sees me shivering.
After ten minutes of comfortable chatter I call up the taxi company to find out how long my taxi will be. I am cross when I hear it will be another half an hour.
I tell him 'thanks for waiting, there is no point you waiting in the cold.'
Him- 'Well, if you want my flat is only around the corner, if you want to wait there. I would wait with you but I am gasping for a drink and it would be warmer. I can always walk you back up after?'
Me- 'Are you sure? I dont want to be a pain. It would be warmer and safer.'
Him- 'of course. Definitely warmer but I don't know about safer.'
I look at him quizically trying to discover if he had a underlying sexual meaning.
Him- 'oh. I meant I have a dog and she can be a bit lively.' He blushes.
Me- 'I love dogs, especially friendly ones'. I feel the sexual tension between us heighten.
Me- 'oh, I have your coat. You will be freezing'
I take the coat off and put it over his shoulders to his protest. My hand briefly grazes his chest. I feel the sparks from the single touch. I wonder is the raw emotion all one-sided as we walk along.
