Alastor had fallen asleep in the chair outside of the hospital room as he was awoken by the sound of the heavy bed rolling down the hall, he scrambled up to see who it was and smiled softly as he rested his sight on your sleeping face.

"Mr. Hughes, your wife will make a full recovery and fortunately we can say your prayers have been answered. The babies are unharmed and everything should run smoothly." He smiled holding his phone in his hand, "Thank you doctor, we're truly blessed." "Of course. May I ask how this all happened?" Alastor felt a phantom twitch from where his ears rested on top of his head, his face held a small smile.

"My wife stayed back at the small house we rented for a getaway as I left for a few items. She didn't want to come since she felt a bit ill." Alastor's face fell into a frown. "When I came back the door was ripped open and everything looked thrown around the place as I found her laying.." he stopped speaking as his voice cracked and broke into a slight sob, the doctor cleared his throat and patted his shoulder.

"Things happen unfortunately we're just glad you sprang into action and saved your wife. Will you be spending the night with her here? She'll be discharged tomorrow morning." He shook his head and excused himself to enter the hospital room.

The monitors and steady heartbeat occupied the room fully drowning out the extra sounds from outside the room, Alastor sat on the bedside looking at the screen then back at your hand, he hesitated to grab it and hold it. There were no tears or sniffles, there was only solemn silence and disturbance in his face, he wasn't the affectionate type in all honesty but it felt good to show that he cared when you weren't awake.

"I won't sit here and cry or sugarcoat it.. (Y/n) you are strong and fearless well at least on the outside, I commend your efforts and support even though I know I don't deserve it.. my wife." He leaned in and planted a small kiss on your forehead before a knock on the door echoed in the room.

"Pardon me Mr. Hughes, we have some paperwork that needs to be filled up at the front desk to release your wife."
"Of course, I'll be there."

The nurse left with him leading him to the front, your eyes still closed too tired to open to the harsh bright light from outside, a bit disoriented after surgery you managed to drink the water from the bedside table as the doctor walked back in with Alastor holding onto his coat and paperwork.

"Her condition is stable but I will warn you, too much stress or restrain could tear her side stitching apart cause another bleed out, we did end up giving her a blood transfusion since she lost quite a lot. No intimacy, heavy lifting or anything involving crazy exercise." Alastor nodded listening intently.
"And these stitches should just fall off right?"
"Correct, once they do she should still follow protocol and take it easy since the new skin is fragile.. it will bruise and be sore so I recommend icing it for short periods of time."

Not being able to continue to be asleep you gently opened your eyes to see the doctor leave, Alastor remained looking at the door for a moment before turning to you. He looked so handsome as a human, a bit uncanny since you'd grown accustomed to his red eyes, interesting attire and soft ears perched on top of his head but his face looked distorted it was sad. You moved your head towards him giving him a worrisome small smile.

"What.. what did the doctor say?" Your question came out as a slight whisper.
"You'll live." He chuckled. "You're being released tomorrow morning so for now relax, get some true rest.." he sat beside the bed before placing his hand on yours. "Sounds fine.. how long was I asleep for?" He thought for a moment. "A day or two.. how are you feeling?" " a bit sore and stiff just achey all over really.."

The nurse had made her presence known as she knocked. "Pardon me, complementary lunches provided by the hospital cafeteria. Also some medications prescribed from the doctor." She placed them on the bedside before excusing herself.

"My my.. in my era things were dramatically different." He picked up the plastic container looking at two sandwiches, a side of fruit and a cup of jello. "I find it mind boggling that you lived in the 30's and somehow managed to make it years through the future to be sitting here in a modern hospital room.." you spoke lowly as he opened the container giving you the food. "How does that make you feel? Atlas." He smirked. "It's odd believe me, but I've managed to get with the times.

You held the sandwich out to him offering a bite. "N..no thank you dear.. you know I don't eat anything other than- you know." You raised an eyebrow. "I've been meaning to ask you.. how does that work?" He leaned back. "Well when you get used to something you've been doing for centuries it's hard to break that habit. Like an alcoholic who drinks themselves into oblivion.." "Yeah well that's alcohol they'll end up dead but venison meat? It can't be that good." He laughs, "You're missing the point. It's cannibalism." "Is it really though? You weren't part deer when you were alive so..." His eyes narrowed as he stared at you blankly. "Just shut it and eat your food."

You took another bite and chuckled to yourself, after you were done eating someone knocked on the door. "Mr and Mrs. Hughes some people are here visiting." James and Diamond stepped inside the room closing the door looking at the two of you.

"How's it going Lana? Are you feeling okay?"
"Yes I'll live." I shrug as Alastor tosses the trash out looking at them.
"That's great news, we're very glad. Unfortunately we have to be the bearer of bad news.."
"What." Alastor spat.
"Lucifer broke in. Vaggie is missing and the carcasses of Stolas and Valentino are missing as well and on the way out was the body of Hades was mounted horribly on the porch."

Diamond folded her hands softly in front of her as he declared the news, the room was silent as Alastor's demeanor eerily shifted.

"Lucifer will fucking pay with blood."
