Huh. Forget it. I decided not to worry about Julia. Probably meeting up with an office friend. I didn't care.
I usually don't sleep till 10, so I had time to do whatever I want. Ok. Maybe I had overexaggerated how much I spent my time waiting for Julia. Huh. She wasn't worth it. I have many other ways to spend my time, and my favourite way to do so was playing with Whitney. I decided to train her. Train her on... something?
Ok. Standing on two legs. Perfect. Mostly because I'm not an expert dog trainer. Anyway.
I found her in the kitchen, attempting to jump on the counter for one of those cupcakes. I had an idea.
"Witty! C'mere!" I called as I took her pink ball, a cupcake and a jar of dog treats.
"Woof woof!" She barked adorably.
She ran over to me, huffing.
"Ok Witty, do you want this?" I asked, holding up the jar of treats.
"Woof!"
"Ok... then reach for it!" I took a treat and held it above Witty.
Of course, she stood up, smelled it and sat again. Okay.
"Come on, you can do it!"
She barked a little and stared up at it, reached for it, then sat again. Nice.
I tried a few more times, but always failed. I looked at the clock. 9:10. Whatever Julia was doing, she'd better be home fast. I was getting annoyed. Forget. Her., my mind told me.
It was kinda hard training Whitney, so I decided to look up the technique on google.
How to train a husky to stand up on two legs, I searched.
Okay. So I had to use a clicker. I looked in Whitney's shelf (where most of her things are kept, thus the name) and found it. I have no idea why I ever bought it. Anyway, now seemed like a good time to use it.
Start with your dog in a sitting position and hold a treat in your closed hand near its nose. Slowly lift your hand over and slightly behind the dog's head so the dog looks back and begins to stand on its hind legs. As soon as your dog stands on its hind legs, use the clicker, praise the dog and give it the treat. Use the word "stand" slightly before using the clicker. Practice. Then get rid of the clicker, and just say the word. If your dog stands, it's a success. If not, practice some more.
Ok. I tried, and it worked! I had to do it about a few twenty times to make her get the hang of it, but it worked. When it almost worked, I gave her her pink ball. When it finally worked, I gave her the cupcake. Nice. Real nice, this time.
Little Big Whitney.
