Marie's POV
I fall on to my bed and sigh deeply. (The first day of school always feels so long.) I think as I grab my headphones and put them on, going to my liked songs on Spotify, then setting my phone down beside me and laying back.
I close my eyes and sing along to the first song. That's how I spend my time for a while until I feel a hand on my shoulder. I jump a little and sit up, opening my eyes to see my mother.
"Hey Mom." "Hi Honey, how was your first day?" "Pretty good I guess, really long." Mom laughs and nods. "I thought you'd say that."
"How was your day Mama?" I ask, shifting to a more comfortable position as I look at her. "It was alright, a little long." Mom smiles again. "I finished a design I've been working on for a while." "That's good Mom."
"Where's your brother?" Mom asks, looking toward his room. "I don't know. He'd already headed out with Tyler and Simon before me, Leah and Kagome were ready." "Oh." Mom looks a little worried and I can understand why with everything that's going on now a days.
"Don't worry Mom, James will be home soon. He's probably just with Tyler and Simon at Aunt Juleka's place or Simon's place." Mom nods as she goes to the door. "Yes you're probably right but I'm going to call him anyway. I'm glad you had a good first day Marie."
Mom smiles as she leaves my room, her bright blue eyes warm and kind as always but with a hint of worry for James. I was going to hit him when he got home, he knows how much Mom worries and he knows why. Mom has seen first hand what akumas can do though we're not aloud to talk about it.
I grab my phone and send James a message.
Marie: Where the heck are you? Mom's worried, especially since there was an akuma attack a couple days ago.
I set my phone down and went downstairs to get asnack. I see Mom on the couch watching the news. I hear the door open and look over to see Dad enter, setting down his guitar case and coming over to kiss me and Mom both on the cheek. "Beat you home!" Mom says, jokingly rasing her arms over her head in victory.
Me and Dad laugh as I head in to the kitchen to get my snack. "How was the first day?" Dad asks me as I come back in to the living room with a bag of chips and sit down on the couch beside Mom and him.
"Long and boring." I answer, opening the bag and staring at the screen, smiling a little because I know this response would make them laugh. "What did you do?" Dad tries. "Listened to the teacher talk I guess."
I eat a chip from the bag. "Oh yeah, I got unlucky again." "What do you mean?" Mom asks me. "Julie, Liam and Elio are all in my class." I sigh, leaning back against the back of the couch.
"All of them?" Dad asks. I nod and sigh. "I'm still nice to them but seriously, all three of them together means three times as much chaos since they all love to be mean and screw around with the rest of us. Plus girls from other classes and even from my own class may start getting giggly since for some reason Liam and Elio are desirable or something."
I groan, leaning back and closing my eyes. "I'm glad you still try to be nice Marie." Mom smiles at me. "It's more than I could do sometimes with Chloe in my class." I laugh a little and smile at Mom. "Well, they're not as bad as Chloe was most of the time from what you've told me and what I've seen. Anyway, I'm going upstairs now, love you." I say, getting up and leaving the room with my chips.
"Love you too Marie." Dad calls after me. "Love you Honey." Mom says. I smile as I reenter my room and flop back down on the bed, grabbing my phone and looking to see if James had said anything.
James: Coming home now, tell Mom not to worry.
Marie: You really need to start telling someone where you're going.
James: I know I know, I'll start doing that.
I sigh as I put down my phone, then call out to Mom, letting her know that James was ok. I hear my phone chime again and reach for it, looking at a message from Leah.
Leah: Hey what's up? I'm so freaking bored!!!!
Marie: How can you be bored when you're watching your younger siblings? They have energy for days! I'm surprised you're not tired out, haven't you been with them for a couple hours?
Leah: Yeah but one, I'm used to it and two, they're just watching TV but whenever I try to leave the room they decide to go nuts so I can't do anything RN!!!
Marie: LOL sorry Leah but I can't really help you there. Why won't they let you do anything?
Leah: They're mad at me for not playing with them last weekend and one of them had the great idea to not let me do anything I want to do tonight for payback.
Marie: Is it at least a good show?
Leah: Noh. It's some stupid show that they know I hate.
Marie: Ouch.
Leah: Yeah, I'm dying of bordom! Send help!
Marie: Who should I send? XD
Leah: Ladybug!
Marie: LMAO! I don't think you need Ladybug to save you from bordom, you have anime for that.
Leah: Oh yeah! I have some shows on my phone!
Marie: Wow. You're just now remembering?
Leah: Yeah XD ttyl
Marie: Ok bye.
As I send my last message I hear the door open downstairs. I get up to look, leaving my room and going downstairs. I see Mom hugging James by the door looking relieved.
"Mom I told you he was safe." I say, going over and punching James lightly on the arm. "Ow!" He whines. (Ok maybe not as lightly as I thought, I need to work on that.) I think, laughing a little. "That's for making Mom worry." I tell him, going back to the stairs with him following.
"You know, you really need to watch how hard you hit, I could end up with a bruise." "Oh no, a bruise! How horible! I'm so sorry my dear brother, how can I ever make it up to you?" I ask, giving him a fake crying face and nearly falling down the stairs as I double over and fake sob, making both of us laugh.
Later, I lay in bed, thinking about the day. (This year's going to be interesting.) I think as I roll over.
Marinette's POV
I hear my two children going upstairs, both both laughing and smile to myself. I'm very glad my children have had such a happy life and that I can protect them but how long can this go on before something happens?
I kiss Luka on the forehead as he does to me sometimes and go to our room to get changed and go to bed. Once I've changed and done everything else I need to do I look at myself in the mirror.
Shoulder length black hair, bright blue eyes, but I look a little paler than usual. I reach up to touch one of the earrings in my ears, the earrings I never take off, the earrings that give me the abillity to protect the ones I love. I need to do something, they must be passed on but I'm afraid of the outcome if I do.
"Don't worry Marinette, it will be alright." The small red creature, my kwami Tikki, says from beside me. "Thank you Tikki, I'm just not sure." I say, going back in to the bedroom and getting in to bed after saying good night to Tikki.
After a while Luka comes in and goes in to the bathroom to prepare for bed. After a while he comes back out and gets in to bed beside me.
He looks at me in the light of the lamp and seams to notice something. He reaches out and gently touches my cheek. "What's wrong?" He asks softly. "I just don't know if I can pass it on." I whisper back, closing my eyes.
"Everything will be alright Marinette, I know she can do it." I nod and smile at my husband. "Yeah I know you're right, it's just ... hard not to worry." He nods in return and pulls me in to his arms.
"You trust her right?" I nod against his chest. "Then don't worry, she'll do amazing and we both know it. Besides, you're not the only one who's worried about her." He strokes my hair. "I know." I answer, reaching up to take his hand. "Thank you Luka, I love you."
"I love you too."
