The next few days Charlotte just operated on autopilot. She avoided everything that had to do with Win a Date with Kid Danger. She didn't avoid Henry though, but she kept their interactions brief. Schwoz kept telling her not to give up hope. But if anything she is a realist. She realizes that they would never be more than friends and once she left for college she would probably not see him again till some dumb class reunion. She had went dress shopping with her mom picking out a beautiful red and gold dress that scream old Hollywood glam. She had found the perfect shoes and accessories. She thought about flat ironing her hair but decided to stay curly. She was going to prom by herself. She was going to dance with a random guy or two and have fun. This would not be her dream prom. But she refused to sit at home and throw herself a pity party.
As she was walking in the man cave. Jasper was begging Henry to pick him; that several other males had entered the contest also. " For the last time Jasper NO just No and for the other guys that entered the answer is Hell to the No" said Henry. Char smiled at her friend use of the catch phrase she had taught him. When he saw Charlotte, Henry face just lit up. Maybe he could finally spend so time with her today. Lately it seems like they only spent five minutes together.
"Hi Char" said Henry walking away from a pathetic looking Jasper. He hugged because it seem like weeks since he had touch her and hugging her just always made him feel better.
" Hi Hen, I think you crush his dreams. " she replied.
"More like nightmare in my book." Henry replied.
"Char tell Henry he should go to Prom with me, " implored Jasper.
Charlotte look at Jasper for a minute before responding.
"Are you trying to tell Henry and the rest of us something because when two people choose to go to prom together they usually have some type of romantic feeling for each other, " she explain.
After hearing that Jasper look at the both of them and said "Eww no no and double no. I was just trying to pickup on the girls that
would hanging around Henry all night."
"That is actually a really good idea" said Henry give Jasper a fist bump. Charlotte just roll her eyes at the two horn dogs and went to work on categorizing some of Schwoz files.
While Jasper was trolling through the applicants pictures. Henry watch Char work. He really wished that he had stood up to Ray and Piper and did the big promposical Schwoz had mentioned.
"Char, you never told me who are you going to prom with", ask Henry. Char froze she didn't want to admit she was going alone. Henry would really think she was a looser. Just a she was about to make up an answer, Ray and Piper came off the elevator.
"Good Kid your here. You need to pick a girl today so we can announce it tomorrow" stated Ray.
"Already, can't I have a few more days", begged Henry.
"Look Henry" said Piper "Prom is in 3 days and we have to schedule interviews, pictures, etc, so stop being a drama queen and pick someone before I make you go with stalker Jasper over there."
Henry put his head in the his hands when he looked up he saw that Charlotte had turn back around working. She seems stiff like something was wrong. He was about to ask her if she was Ok when she got up and walk through the sprocket door. Damn he hated this.
Meanwhile Schwoz was on the phone with with a unknown person telling to be patient that he would make sure Henry and Charlotte go to Prom together.
I wonder who Schwoz is in cohoote with.
