(Wow, this tears at the heart.)
Everything was pitch black...nothing but darkness and hate...screams and horrible laughter came from every side...Jake was falling down a long tunnel...
"Jake. Jake, wake up."
A woman's voice was whispering something, but...he couldn't...breathe...
"Jake, listen, please. Wake up."
This time, it was a man's voice...and this one sounded...familiar...
Slowly, Jake opened his eyes. Everything was blindingly bright and Jake had to shut his eyes again. He caught a glimpse of two people standing over him, a man and a woman.
"He is still disoriented from the fall, give him time," the man's voice said.
"It's a miracle we were able to heal him in the first place. His injuries were so serious," the woman replied.
"The son of Aphrodite truly is a threat. He's already destroyed mine, Ares, and Hades's most sacred shrines. The other gods are swamped, we cannot defeat him."
At the mention of Bryan, Jake blinked and his vision focused. Indeed, a man and a woman were standing next to his bedside. The woman was unfamiliar, but the man...
"D-Dad?" He whispered groggily.
Poseidon turned around. "Jake. Thank the gods. Khione, do you still have that salve?"
The woman nodded and grabbed a jar filled with white goop. She unscrewed it and rubbed it on Jake's chest. At first, it stung to high heck, but it started growing warmer and more relaxing. The woman Poseidon called "Khione" smiled.
"Jake...hello. I don't think you remember me, but you are truly the image of your father."
"K-Khione...I know you. You're the goddess of, er, snow. Right?"
Khione nodded. "Yes, I am the goddess of ice and snow, daughter of Boreas, and sister to Calais and Zetes."
Poseidon chuckled. "Let the boy rest, my dear. He was thrown off a 600-foot-high cliff and stabbed in the chest yesterday by his own boyfriend."
Jake tried to sit up, but Khione pushed him back down. "What's the rush?"
"Camp Oasis, what else?! Bryan's-"
"Calm down, my boy. Camp Oasis is in perfect shape. No attacks from Mr. Divil, yet. The campers are very miserable, however. They assume you dead."
"I'm surprised I'm not. Did you-"
"Not me. I just found you. Khione was the star of the show," replied Poseidon.
She giggled. "Don't listen to a word your father says. He's too modest for his own good."
Jake didn't laugh. "Dad, Khione, why am I here?"
Khione blinked, but Poseidon understood.
"Jake, you received your prophecy from the Oracle. As ever, she is correct. You must do battle with the one you love in order to save Camp Oasis, and possibly Greece."
"But, what about the gods? Surely, they must've realized-"
"Of course the gods have noticed him. And they are swamped. Bryan is too powerful a sorcerer for us to beat. He has brains, power, and charisma. A deadly combination. You are the only one who can defeat him."
Jake felt like throwing up. "I...have to kill Bryan?"
"Not necessarily. You saw his weapon?"
"The spear? Yeah, I did."
"It is called the Seductive Rose. It is controlling Bryan's heart and clouding his mind. Destroy it and all will be made right. I'm sending you back to Camp Oasis. Do me proud, Jake."
A flash of blue light later, Jake was sitting by the campfire, next to everyone.
"Jake!" Xylo shouted. "Wha-"
Jake stood up. "We have to get ready. A fight's coming. And we have a 50/50 chance here. Either we win, or we're all screwed.
