Izuku hated confrontation, as it always ended with him crying. Though, yesterday it ended with yelling, but he decided not to dwell on that. He hated crying as it fueled his bullies' egos, it made them proud by how much they've harmed him. Like it was a sick game and he was the least willing participant.
So, when his mama staggered out of her room smelling of all sorts of alcoholic concoctions, he left. His light feet sounding like thundering footsteps in his ears, the movement of shadows putting him on edge slightly before he climbed up a random fire escape. He could only hope the view was as beautiful as it is destructive, the people living their night lifes as smog covered the air like a lingering spirit. He hummed to himself at the view, not as clear as the higher buildings he frequented, but then again he was banned from their premises because of 'breaking and entering'. A pity, really. Though, this old decrepit building saved his view, albeit lower than he would like, of a filth covered city and the joy of quirks. The spark of 'joy' in their lives, though it didn't help with pollution or anything else haunting the Earth, did it? It helped with 'villains', other humans, not nature or natural disasters.
Someone behind him hummed, making him tense slightly as he turned to face them. A man with tired eyes and eyebags stared at him, long black hair falling loosely as a grey scarf protected his neck from the cold. So a hero? Or a very resourceful vigilante or villain. He blinked at the man with wide green eyes, who sighed slightly and removed his black eyes from the staring contest. Oh, he's studying my face.
"What are you doing up here, greenie?" a tired, gruff voice that matched the tired eyes asked. "Oh! Staring at the view, isn't it beautiful?" Izuku smiled slightly, getting a slight nod from the man. Oh, yellow goggles. Yellow goggles and grey scarf? "Nice to meet you Mr Eraserhead" he beamed slightly as the man's stance stiffened slightly, "Oh. I didn't know many people...knew me" the hero paused slightly as Izuku shrugged. "I like knowing heroes, well, I liked knowing heroes. Oh, also! Don't worry about me jumping, it would just prove a lot of people right and I live on spite at this point" Izuku shrugged, stumbling over his words slightly as he faced h̶i̶s̶ ̶n̶u̶m̶b̶e̶r̶ ̶o̶n̶e̶ ̶h̶e̶r̶o̶ the hero. "Who's them, kid?" Eraserhead asked curiously, "Bullies, strangers, all that sorts" he shrugged uncaringly as Eraserhead's eyes narrow slightly. "Why are you being bullied, you seem like a kind kid." the erasure hero spoke, "Quirks." Izuku's smiled wavered, "I'm quirkless, so, it's just life." he shrugged as Eraserhead nodded slowly. "Being quirkless, well, I would've jumped off this roof a long time ago if it wasn't for spite" he admitted, "Probably would have yesterday, actually" he hummed as Eraserhead tensed, a frightened look entering his eyes before it was hidden. "Why would you?" he trailed off as Izuku shot him a sad smile, "I was told to jump off a building by my childhood friend, then got attacked by a slime villain, All Might saved me and said I couldn't be a hero without a quirk, saved Bakugou from said slime villain, got scolded by heroes on the scene, then was told by All Might I could be a hero, snapped at the number one hero and left. So, it was a long day" he ranted slightly, wait was he venting to another hero? "Well, some heroes are bad. They don't take in their colleagues or the other types of heroism, such as underground or that I fight quirkless." He shrugged as Izuku smiled slightly, "Thanks Eraser, you're so cool" he said to his favourite hero.
Izuku glanced at the time and sighed slightly. "I have to go Eraser, my ma won't be happy I'm out this late again" he spoke shakily, hoping his mother is asleep. "What year are you in? It's concerning a kid is wandering around at night" Eraserhead asked, "I'm in my last year of middle school" Izuku sighed in relief at the thought of leaving Aldera. "Oh? Are you applying for UA?" Eraserhead asked curiously, "Nope! Well, it's on my application but my plan so far is that I asked to test out early and continue to Kunugigaoka, where the Principal said that he'd allow me to skip a few years and go to 3-E for the start of the year, or entire year depending on my grades. I took an IQ test at the start of the year, which is close to Nezu's, so I was picked up for advanced learning and was approached with an offer. If that explains much" He chuckled nervously as Eraserhead nodded in understanding. "That's understandable, if you still want to apply for UA during the school year let me know" he chuckled slightly as Izuku nodded hastily, "Sorry for wasting your time Eraserhead, but thanks for the conversation!" he beamed at the hero who nodded into his capture weapon. "Just call me Aizawa Shota. See you when I next see you..." Eraser trailed off, "Midoriya Izuku, but just Izuku is fine" the boy beamed up at his hero. "Bye Izuku, see you next time" the hero called out before jumping roof to roof, Izuku quickly following his example of leaving by taking the fire escape.
